History

Faceless Ones

Originally Zantor worked for Krang lowered Dorma into the realm of the Faceless Ones, when she refused to marry Krang.

Alliance with Attuma

Zantor is an Atlantean scientist who works with Attuma. When the allies hear that Namor had returned to Atlantis, they began searching the oceans for a weapon to use against him. Zantor designed and built a ship that was faster Atlantean vessel.

The the allies found the Hulk floating and brought him aboard the ship. They later kidnapped Vashti, who was away from Atlantis due to a disease called the Black Tide that was ravaging his body.

Zantor gave the Hulk a solution that turned him into a water-breather that turned his skin blue, and withdrew most of the Hulk's gamma-irradiated blood. Zantor also used a speechfeeder krill which he placed in Hulk's ear so that he can understand their language. Once the Hulk awoke, Zantor force fed him a Sonar Bat-ray that allowed to map the his body.

The Hulk then breaks free, and almost kills Zantor, although he doesn't and flees the ship instead. Zantor was angry that Attuma did nothing to help him. Zantor found a way to use the Hulk's gamma-irradiated blood to increase Attuma's powers, but Attuma was wary and wanted to test the process first. Zantor mutated Vashti with the blood and set him free. He then used it on Attuma, equipping Attuma with a tank of blood, tubes to keep him mutated.

Attuma the attacked and ravaged Atlantis for a time, the Namor led force on Attuma's ship and cornered the scientists. Namor interrogated him which allowed to learn about Attuma's feeder tubes, which led to Attuma's defeat. Ironically the side effect of the gamma-blood cured all the Atlanteans of their Black Tide disease.

• Atlantean Abilities: Zantor possesses the conventional attributes of Atlanteans (Homo mermanus): gills that extract oxygen from water, superhuman physiology to withstand extreme pressures and temperatures, and acute vision. He can swim at approximately 30 miles per hour. He can remain out of water for approximately nine minutes before beginning to suffocate. However, he can operate on the surface by wearing a water-filled helmet or using a chemical that enables him to draw oxygen from the air.
