FBI agent Jimmy Woo is called to a rocket test site to observe the latest missile test. After the missile is launched it is destroyed by an energy bolt. The commander on the scene tells Jimmy that this is the third destroyed rocket and that the source is a strange UFO that has been seen in the area. The commander orders Jimmy to found out why the UFO has been destroying American missiles only and not those being developed by communist nations.
Meanwhile, not far away, Yellow Claw has convinced the alien being, dubbed UFO the Lightning Man that the United States is evil and in order to defend communist nations that, he says, seek only peace. UFO believes this, glad that he found Yellow Claw, and wishes to maintain peace on Earth since on his world in the Alpha Centauri system believe that war is unthinkable.
When UFO begins using his powers again, they are picked up by government devices tuned to the energy frequency. Jimmy then has a pilot fly him to the region, and when their ship is blasted out of the sky, they avoid death by ejecting from the plane. When they are confronted by UFO, the alien protects himself in a force field and is about to attack them when suddenly Suwan dives in the way, revealing to UFO that her father was lying to him the entire time. UFO from a race incapable of lying finds this hard to believe until Suwan convinces him that humans are capable of lying. She then leads Jimmy, the pilot and UFO to Yellow Claw's hideout where they overhear Yellow Claw gloating over how he deceived UFO for his own goals of global domination. Hearing this, UFO uses his powers to send all gathered away, erasing their memories of their encounter with UFO before returning to the stars.

Thanks to an anonymous tip, suspected to be from his ally Karl von Horstbadden, Jimmy Woo and the FBI have managed to finally capture the international terrorist known as Yellow Claw. Jimmy decides to go to the warehouse where they captured Yellow Claw to search for clues to explain his sudden silence.

Jimmy believes he has figured out what Yellow Claw might be up to when suddenly Karl von Horstbadden knocks him out. When he comes to, Jimmy quickly calls FBI headquarters and orders them to drop Yellow Claw in an uninhabited area. They do so just moments before Yellow Claw seemingly explodes in a massive nuclear explosion. Returning to headquarters, Jimmy examines x-rays taken of "Yellow Claw" before he was disposed of, confirming Jimmy's suspicions: That the "Yellow Claw" they captured was really a life-like robot planted with a bomb.
