Synopsis for "A Plague Among Us"Edit
At the secret Russian facility, Rebirth Island, a Russian general traps secret mutant Dr. Ivan Kivelki in a chamber and activates a device designed to eliminate mutants. The device does not kill him, but instead reacts with his mutant DNA in an unexpected way and turns him into the villain, Black Death.
In Moscow, the X-Men arrive for a tourist visit and encounter a mind-controlled Darkstar. After a brief skirmish, Phoenix breaks Darkstar free of her mind control and Darkstar teleports them to Rebirth Island, where she was attacked.
After the X-Men and Darkstar investigate the facility and defeat several Mandroids, Black Death reveals himself and his plan to lure Dr. McCoy to Rebirth Island to help him rid his body of the toxins that are killing him. Black Death takes control of the other X-Men's minds to force Beast to aid him and Beast grudgingly complies.
While he works on the device, Beast psychically reaches out to Phoenix and helps her break her mind control. Jean quickly frees the other X-Men who fight Black Death and allow Beast to use the device he has been working on (secretly a stun gun) to disable Black Death. Darkstar takes Black Death into custody while the X-Men return home.
