History

The publisher of the Daily Bugle during the 1930s and ‘40s, William Goodman was a belligerent boss to his staff. Ironically, one of his reporters, a young J. Jonah Jameson, swore to show more faith and be more even-handed with his own employees someday.

Notes

His name is sometimes spelt as William Walter Goldman.

Trivia

Due to Marvel Comics' sliding timescale, the wartime publisher of the Bugle was retconned as Simon J. Goodman, possibly William's father, who similarly employed JJJ's father alongside Phil Sheldon.
