Synopsis for "What If... The New X-Men Had Died On Their Very First Mission?"

The original X-Men and the New X-Men are killed on the island of Krakoa. Professor Xavier telepathically feels the deaths of each member and feels guilty for causing their deaths. Beast (who wasn't with the X-Men during the mission) tries his best to help Professor Xavier with his depression by bringing Moira from Muir Island. Later Count Nefaria attacks and Beast creates a rag-tag team of X-Men consisting of himself, Siryn, Warpath, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Namorita. A visiting Wolfsbane (before powers are discovered) has her powers turned on by Professor X to assist the X-men. Together this new team defeats Count Nefaria and return home safely. Xavier has a new lease on life thanks to these new X-Men and asks them to stay. All the mutants agree except for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch who take reserve status.

Trivia

Since Earth-616's Krakoa survived death by being captured by the Stranger, there may be a possibility that Earth-105709's Krakoa met the same fate and the X-Men may have survived together, but so far this has not been possible confirmed.

On the X-Men tombstone shown on the cover, images of Lorna Dane and the Angel are not present and in their place, below Havoc, is an unknown masked individual.
