In a reality where the early production of Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine designs started Earth's accelerated technological advancement, events parallel to World War II occur in outer space. Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos fight to protect earth from the lizard-men of the interplanetary Betan Empire and from Terran traitors led by Admiral Baron Strucker at the battle of Space Station Midway.
