Synopsis for "As Dreams Are Made On Part Two: In The Nightmare Factory"

Peter Parker acts as a fourth-wall-breaking narrator and continues the story he was telling the reader from the last issue. He recounts how he confirmed his suspicions that Jonah Jameson wasn't dead when he visited the autopsy where Jameson's son was watching. The real Jonah Jameson, meanwhile, was terrified and trapped in a facsimile of Hell created by the villain Mysterio.

After an awkward encounter with Gwen Stacy, Peter dressed back up as Spider-Man and went to the site of Jonah Jameson's car accident where he encountered a set of hired pedestrians dressed as members of the villain team the Sinister Six. After quickly being dispatched by Spider-Man, they told him that Mysterio had hired them to give him the location of Silver Studios, an abandoned movie studio where Mysterio was holding Jonah captive.

While Spider-Man went to the movie studio and saved Jonah, Mysterio went on a date with his childhood friend, Betsy Schneider, and took her back to his lair afterward. Mysterio was surprised to find upon arriving at the studio that a low-budget movie was being shot there by director Cecil Vigarro starring Joe Smith, an actor who had tussled with Spider-Man once in the past. Mysterio attempts to scare away the movie crew and then raises a giant, mechanical sphinx from the ground which he flys away on before Spider-Man can arrive and stop him. Unbeknownst to Mysterio or his companion Betsy, Joe Smith held onto the bottom of the sphinx as they flew away. Mysterio then apparently blows up the studio with Spider-Man, Jonah Jameson, and the movie crew inside.
