Synopsis for "The Army Vs. War Machine"
War Machine has a flashback to Dubai, one year before this issue takes place. Rhodey has just finished testing out a jet and is talking to Hummell about improving its performance when terrorists attack the base. After an explosion, the right side of Rhodey's face is badly scarred and his right arm is damaged badly.
Back in the present, War Machine is attacking the Mackelroy Army Base when he discovers Ultimo's head in a building and it start firing lasers at him. Meanwhile, in New York, Norman Osborn is watching the situation via surveillance cameras and he contacts American Eagle ordering him to take War Machine down.
War Machine is assaulting the Ultimo head when he has another flashback to the terrorist attack in Dubai. In the flashback, Rhodey sees Hummell get shot and killed and it is revealed that all of Rhodey's limbs have been blown off. Back in the present, War Machine uses magno locks to get pieces of rubble and make a massive suit of armor which he controls and uses to disable the Ultimo head. American Eagle then manages to pop out an eye from the Ultimo head and War Machine incorporates the tech into his armor and uses the eye to crack open the head.
War Machine goes into the head and manages to find the locations of Ultimo's CPU, which had been split between different locations in the U.S.A. Norman Osborn orders American Eagle to take War Machine but everyone in the room with American Eagle heard the message. War Machine flies off to find the bases with the CPU's.
Meanwhile, Jake Oh and Bethany Cabe are in a plane flying over Lebanon, Kansas and Jake is getting into a War Machine armor and when he asks Suzi Endo who his target is she tells him to 'get ready for a surprise'.
At the Stark Solutions building in Plano, Texas, Tony Stark is briefed on Rhodey's attack on the Mackelroy Army Base and tells whoever he is talking to through the radio, that they need to make their move.
