I have moved! (Changed usernames)

My new (old) name is Jamie and my talk page can be found here.
I will leave everything here for posterity's sake.

Cheers!

Jamie, the templates aren't showing up linked on the stubs.koku 07:34, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Do you mean the red links on this page?
--JamieHari 07:36, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes. It's probably just a naming thing. koku 07:50, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Totally! Basically, "MarvelDatabase:" became "Marvel Database:" across the entire website. (A space was added at the DC Database too)
To be honest, I think it was a mistake by Wikia, but it has been something I have meaning to do myself. It turned out for the best!

Thanks for the welcome! I'll try and contribute here a lot, but I'm mostly on Star Wars Fanon. NKSCF NK says NK's 'mazin' articles File:Sabersmilygreend.jpg 01:45, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Jamie, heads up on the "What links here" links on the left...it don't wanna work and gives an Internal error. I still am having trouble signing into the forums under my username M1shawhan. Plus I have not found a link to be able to have a password reset there or send me my forgotten password since it appears to have somehow logged me as registered. Any advice? M1shawhan 04:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

M1shawhan,
I have done a manual override for the M1shawhan account on the forums. You should be able to log in now. Here is the link to the password reset page, but you should try logging in a few times before you reset your password. (It will send you an email with the new password to your @yahoo.com account)
Please leave another message for me here on this page if you continue to have any troubles. (I will notify Wikia of the "What links here" bug right away.)
Thanks,

Perfect!!! Thanks! M1shawhan 05:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Dark Phoenix

Thank you for clearing the Professor Xavier mess up. I thought I was helping. I am going to be creating articles to go to red links and also add links into articles. As you know, this wiki can of course use improvement. I think its style of format compared to other wikis is unique. I also, believe that Dark Phoenix should in fact have its own page. See coments here. Thank you.--Nexus(Telepathic Link) 00:52, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Agent 13 disambig and moving

Sharon Carter, an unnnamed Hydra agent, and Alan Desmond have all been Agent 13. Or just mix them into the Agent one? Thanks. koku 20:25, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Good question... Use the Agent 13 as the disambig, maybe have a link from Agent to Agent 13?
--JamieHari 20:45, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

And can you move Tarantula (Female) to Tarantula (Maria Vasquez)? koku 20:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC) again

I have moved the page, but you should have the power yourself as an admin. If you can't let me know and I will fix you up. :)
--JamieHari 20:45, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I can't move pages, other than the Screamer page the other day. koku 20:52, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Sorry about that! You weren't set as an admin after the changeover...
I fixed it now. You should be fine from here on in...
Cheers!

Featured Wikia

Hi there GHe! How's it going? I noticed that late yesterday you had moved the Music Wikia into the featured Wikia position. I was wondering, how was this decided. Am I missing something? Thanks for the clarification! Cheers, --JamieHari 16:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi JamieHari. As you may or may not know, there was a tie between Marvel Database Project and Music at the time when the featured Wikia for December was decided (on IRC in #wikia). [1] (Actually, it was a three-way-tie with Legend of the Five Rings just a short while before that. [2]) The reason that Music was chosen was because Angela was planning to put Marvel Database Project up on Wikia messages next, so it's better to have them spread out instead of having them at the same time. If you feel that this was unfair, please note that I didn't actually make the decision; CocoaZen did. I was simply helping with the transition, so you may want to contact CocoaZen to talk about this issue if you want. I apologize that Marvel Database Project wasn't featured for December, but there's a high chance that it will be featured in the near future. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to leave me another message. :) G.He(Talk!) 19:19, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey GHe,
Nope, that sounds fair. I apologize, but at the time when you moved it over, we had more votes than Music and LotFR combined. I wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing... Indeed there was.
Thanks for clarifying!
Cheers,

Re:Merging

This past week has been really busy for me, but bit by bit it'll get done. koku 11:52, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

No rush my friend, I only managed to get 2 or 3 done myself. This week has been busy for me too. I bought a new car... SWEET!!

Events and Wanted Pages...

Jamie, I hate posting here but I am not sure if you would notice if I put on my own talk page. I am wondering about the Category_talk:Events issues that I posted. I am not even sure if we would want to go down this route as there would be a whole can o' worms with doing storylines...Also, how often are the Special Pages, such as the Wanted Pages and others updated. I have been catching as much as I can in there but it is getting a little on the filled side and there are some that I am not sure where to link them. Let me know what you think. -- M1shawhan 02:21, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I used to see EVERYTHING that happened on the Database, but our traffic has tripled in recent weeks and it is getting increasingly hard to keep up with. Normally, I would see messages on your talk page, but now days, it is probably best to leave messages on my talk page. I get them much quicker.
I have replied at the events page as well. The Special pages are actually dynamic. They 'should' be updated all the time. There is a bit of a problem right now that they aren't being updated probably, but we are working to fix it.
Do your best, it is a BIG task, so don't feel like you have to make all the red links, blue, all in one day. :)

Just a couple things...

I still have been unable to activate my forum account. I don't suppose you could either get it to send me a new e-mail (and hope it works this time) or kill my account so i can re-register with this name?

Second, I'd really like you to take a look at Category talk:Secret Identity. Basically, i think identities should be determined as secret or public from the perspective of the character. Eg, Lilandra's identity is obviously public, even if earth doesn't know a thing about her. Secret or public nature of identity should not be a statement of society's knowledge, but the character's attitude towards his or her identity.

Third, is there some way we can get a push for most notes to be handled as footnotes via the reference commands. I'm slowly moving the X-Men page over towards that format - its a great way to include extra information about the character. It also lets us note things like exactly who was on the team at standardized points of time (for X-Men i've been using the history subtitles.)

Finally, assuming we generally move towards footnotes, I'd really like detailed source documentation to be supported. Eg, a footnote with the relevant issue number after any factual claim so that the fact is verifiable and so anyone reading the page can get an answer to "When did that happen?" I mean, if this is going to be a resource, hopefully it will also provide people the information to go track down the comics they're looking for, and the most efficient way to do so is to end up with the comics (by issue number) cross-referenced with the character, team, and events pages. Not only would this be great from a reference point of view, it would also put us well beyond the Marvel page utility.

Is there a way to encourage general formatting shifts on the wiki? (Possibly the forums - but my inability to activate my registration has led to me mostly ignoring it.) --Squirrelloid 23:14, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that, I have fixed your forums account. We have been having some troubles with the forums lately, but it should work fine now.
(I have replied at the secret id talk page)
I am ALL for using more reference commands. I think every article should use them. Until recently, we didn't even have that functionality. Brian Kurtz at the DC Database Project requested it, originally, and is uses it a lot. Anything we can do to put us ahead of our 'competitors' in the way of functionality should be a paramount priority.
Let me know if you need anything else to make this happen.
Cheers,

Interest in a new Wiki?

Hye! I was wondering if you would be interested in a wiki I requested called Alternate Marvel, it is a Fanon wiki. You can create articles about made up superheroes or other characters that live in the Mavel Universe. You can also take already existing characters and give them new stories. Please tell me what you think of this idea and if you'll be interested in joining so it can be created. Darth JCS

Sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately, I am too busy to help, but I wish you the best!
