Tyr Odinson?[]

I'm probably being picky, but shouldn't this article name be Tyr Odinson (Earth-616) to conform to the naming standards? Chadlupkes 22:07, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

  • I am not sure about that. Both Thor and Loki have identified themselves with a full name, including their father's name plus the syllable "son" (I remember Thor pronouncing an amount of his names before Fin Fang Foom/Jormungander, and Loki specifying his genealogy when talking with frost giants). However, other gods have not done that on-screen, and thus we are not supposed to assume that they have a longer name. In real-life Indonesia, for instance, many people go by one single-word name -"Tyr", "Sigyn"-, while others use multiple words without a family reference -"Fenris Wolf"- or a patronymic -"Thor Odinson"- (see link). Marvel Comics's Asgard is quite different from real-life Norse legends, so I would feel safer if we restrict the fanon to a minimum. I wouldn't dare to suggest that Tyr is not Odin's son. I only suggest that his name is not Tyr Odinson, unless otherwise proved.
My opinion: If Tyr has been identified anywhere as "Tyr Odinson", go and change the article (and please provide the reference). Else, meet Tyr. Just Tyr. As in "just Cher".--Skippy Farlstendoiro 09:25, 10 December 2007 (UTC). (Not Skippy Farlstendoiro Farlstendoiroson).
  • I consider them more titles than last names. Odinson just means "son of Odin" just as "O'Leary" means "son of Leary." It's all subjective anyway. We're not adding anything to the MU, we're just creating a fanbase of characters. Thor2000 17:13, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

As of recentish issues he’s been grouped with the “Odinson brothers “... Eschiss1 (talk) 01:33, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

Italian[]

Is it just me, or is half the article in Italian? May I put in a request for it to be translated? Eschiss1 (talk) 01:35, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
