Her name means Hope. In MC2, Hope van Dyne is the Red Queen, child of Hank Pym. See where I'm going with this?
Still, I'm curious what people think of the character. Uncanny X-Factor (talk) 02:48, May 12, 2016 (UTC)
Despite the different name, I would definitely consider her to be the 616 version of Hope. While neither existing version of Hope has been the Wasp yet, that's clearly the plan for her 199999 version. Alkonium (talk) 03:38, May 12, 2016 (UTC)
She might be the 616 version of Hope, but she's not Janet's daughter, so it wouldn't make much sense to give her her name. The preceding unsigned comment was added byPinkwar (talk • contribs).
She didn't really have an official family name, so she asked Janet if she could use her name, that is why we have her as Nadia Van Dyne, nothing to do with MCU, we do have it referenced there so people can confirm it.(SunGodKizaru (talk) 11:27, September 14, 2017 (UTC))
Why has Nadia'a surname been changed to Van Dyne? --DCLover1995 (talk) 23:17, April 26, 2018 (UTC)
As seen in Unstoppable Wasp #8, Nadia was never actually given a surname in Russia, and thus she chose Van Dyne while filling out her legal paperwork to seek asylum in the United States. -- Annabell (talk) 23:36, April 26, 2018 (UTC)
So, she chose Van Dyne because she dosn't even know Hank and had become really close to Jan? --The preceding unsigned comment was added byDCLover1995 (talk • contribs).
Yes, she wanted her last name to mean something to her, and since she didn't know either of her biological parents and believes them both deceased, Van Dyne was the only logical choice she could think of. -- Annabell (talk) 23:48, April 26, 2018 (UTC)
