Quote1 If you wish me to kill for you, then I will. You need not trick me, or convince me...I will kill for you. I have killed for Magneto, for Exodus, for Sinister, but you... you are different. I can smell the death on you, and I like it. Quote2
Senyaka[src]

History

Origin[]

Suvik Senyaka was a mutant born in Sri Lanka. Even as a child he was able to see life in other beings and wanted to take it away, believing what it was his purpose to kill others, break their bodies and drain their blood. Taking a sadistic pleasure from killing, he became a hunter, and later a mercenary, serving anyone who wanted him to kill others for them.[6]

Later in life he developed an intense hatred towards humans and considered every human a threat to mutants and therefore worthy of brutal torture and execution for simply existing.[2][8]

Acolytes[]

Senyaka was recruited into the Acolytes by Fabian Cortez and even became one of his personal guards.[2] Cortez sent him and several other Acolytes on a mission to the human hospice and they slaughtered most of its patients and medical personal.[8] When Magneto again resumed control of the Acolytes, Senyaka's bloodthirstiness displeased him, so Magneto crushed Senyaka with his own whips, seemingly killing him.[9]

Senyaka's body was then taken away by the agents of the S.H.I.E.L.D.. All of his bones and organs were shattered by Magneto and he had no signs of life, so the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s medics declared him dead. However, one of them touched his body and it activated Senyaka's power. All of the life-force from medic was siphoned into Senyaka's body and it helped him to regenerate. Barely able to move Senyaka then killed two agents who had rushed into the medbay, before escaping.[10]

Seeking revenge on Magneto, Senyaka set out to kill his former paramour Lee Forrester. He infiltrated Forrester's ship and killed all members of her crew. Forrester was saved by Cable, and Senyaka was seemingly killed once more in the ensuing battle.[11][10]

Senyaka later reappeared as a member of a faction of Acolytes led by Exodus who participated in an assault on Wundagore Mountain in the European country of Transia, home of the enigmatic scientist known as the High Evolutionary. The Evolutionary had developed a powerful mutagenic compound known as Isotope E, which the Acolytes coveted.[12]

After Exodus was defeated, Senyaka found himself amongst the ranks of former Acolytes who aided the human Carrion Cove Rebellion against Magneto's rule of the island nation of Genosha, as part of a plot of Cortez.[13]

Post M-Day[]

Senyaka was one of the few remaining mutants after the Decimation. He joined Exodus and his fellow Acolytes when they allied themselves with Mister Sinister and his Marauders. As a part of Sinister's preparations for the birth of the first mutant, the Marauders were tasked to deal with everyone and everything with knowledge about the future. Senyaka was tasked with assassinating Cable and destroying Providence. Even though Cable survived the assassination attempt, Providence was destroyed, and Senyaka seemingly perished in the process.[3]

Necrosha[]

However, Senyaka survived once again and returned to Sri Lanka. He stayed there until Selene recruited him into her Inner Circle.[6] As Senyaka assaulted Utopia with the rest of Selene's followers, he was responsible for the death of Meld.[14] During the final battle between the Inner Circle and the X-Force on Genosha, Senyaka was decapitated by Wolverine and X-23.[7]

Powers

Life-Force Absorption: Senyaka was a mutant with power to drain life-force from other people upon physical contact.[10][4][1] He seems to have full control over his power and can activate it at will and with different speed of absorption. When he needed to quickly restore his health, Senyaka managed to turn healthy adult man into dust in a matter of seconds.[11]

  • Regeneration and Self-Resurrection: Senyaka can use the absorbed life-force to heal himself. Even when all of his bones and organs were shattered by Magneto and professional medics declared him dead, Senyaka managed to completely recover after fully absorbing the life-force of several people.[9][10] Senyaka had seemingly died on multiple occasions[9][10][3][7] and mentioned what he was killed previously,[14] but always resurfaced some time later (apart from his last decapitation so far).
  • Psionic Whips: Senyaka could generate a pair of psionic whips that moves according to his mental commands and could greatly increase the distance of his absorption power.[2] He could use the whips to simply entangle and constrict victims, drag them closer to himself, or to strangulate them.[11][10][3][14] But the whips could also conduct his bio-electricity to ignite nerve clusters in an opponent to cause paralysis[2][14] or intense pain, as well as sear into their flesh.[8] In their energized form the whips could also be used as a piercing weapon[11] or to destroy electronic devices.[15] However, if the whips are destroyed it would backfire on him and temporarily shutdown his brain.[2]
  • Life and Death Sensing: He was able to see life-force of other beings and could also smell the death on others (could smell if other person killed someone else). He was able to see through Selene's illusionary disguise thanks to this.[6]

Notes

  • Suvik is a name of Sinhala origin, meaning "one with a speedy health". While "Suvik" (සුවික්) can't be actually translated from Sinhala language, but without last diacritic (සුවික, suvika) it means "healthy". "Senyaka" (සෙන්යක) is a Sinhala word meaning "soldier", so his full name could be roughly translated as "healthy soldier".
