Reprint of the 1st story from
Amazing Spider-Man #116

While web-slinging through the city, Spider-Man pauses to remark on a large campaign sign for mayoral candidate Richard Raleigh. Suddenly the sign is smashed by a gigantic man appropriately named the Smasher, who apparently has a vendetta against the mayor. Spider-Man battles the Smasher, but is forced to leave the fight when the two men putting up the campaign for Raleigh are endangered. After saving the men, Spider-Man departs, concerning himself with other problems: Like retrieving his real mask from J. Jonah Jameson.

Web-Slinging to the Bugle, Spider-Man interrupts a meeting between Jonah and Joe Robertson (who is airing his suspicions of Raleigh), Spider-Man manages to retrieve his mask, despite the protests from Jameson. Safely away from prying eyes, Spider-Man ditches his temporary mask (stolen from a costume shop) and replaces it with his original. He then decides to go back to the Bugle as Peter Parker to sell his photos of his battle against Dr. Octopus and Hammerhead. On his way there, he's stopped by Harry Osborn and Mary Jane, MJ gives Peter a support button for Raleigh. When Peter tries to sell his pictures to Jameson, news of Spider-Man's battle against the Smasher has hit, and Jameson is not interested in buying pictures of "hasbeens" like Hammerhead.

After a press conference where Raleigh pushes his "tough on crime" image, he's later confronted by a crime boss, who he lashes out at and warns that organized crime will be crushed by him. Later, Peter changes back to Spider-Man and web-slings across the city to meet up with Gwen for a date, but can't help but keep an eye out for the Smasher.

Meeting up with Gwen, Gwen feels bad for Aunt May's decisions of late because they were influenced over Gwen's criticisms of Aunt May's mothering of Peter, she reassures Peter that Flash is only a friend and he has nothing to worry about. The couple then go to a fundraiser for Raleigh's campaign, where they meet with Mary Jane. During the event, Peter's spider-sense goes off, he notices the roof of the reception hall is about to collapse. Killing the lights Peter, with no time to change into his Spider-Man costume, tries to stop the collapse with his webbing, however it's not enough, and unless he comes up with an idea fast, the roof will collapse and kill everyone there, including Gwen.

Synopsis for "No More the Thunder God!"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Thor #179

Surveying the battle done by Surtur, Thor and the Warriors Three encourage the warriors of Asgard to rebuild and repair the damage done. Later Thor meets with Sif and the two have a brief romantic moment before Thor is greeted by Odin, who wishes the Thunder God to go to Earth and search for Loki.

As Odin transports Thor to Earth, Loki has shacked up in a posh penthouse using his magical tricks to make it appear that he is wealthy. He awaits Thor's arrival as his magician is preparing a special trap to use against the Thunder God. When he spies Thor arriving on Earth and resuming his mortal guise of Donald Blake, Loki drops his disguise and goes to Blake's office with his specially prepared trap.

Inside the office, Loki finds Thor waiting for him, and before the Thunder God can attack he throws his latest creation: A living mask, which attaches itself to Thor's face. To Thor's horror the living mask causes Loki and Thor to trade bodies. Now with Thor's matchless strength and appearance, Loki manages to knock Thor out and steal the Thunder God's uniform.

Back on Asgard, Balder has fully recovered from his ordeal of rescuing Odin from the Sea of Eternal Sleep. Not wishing to sit idle, he and Sif decide to go to Earth in order to help Thor capture Loki. They appear in Donald Blake's office to find what they think is Loki (but in reality Thor in Loki's body) and attack. Thor tries in vein to convince them that he is really their friend trapped in their enemies body, however Balder and Sif refuse to believe it.

Meanwhile, the battle is being watched by Loki who finds perverse enjoyment in watching it's outcome. As Balder and Sif are busy battling who they think is Loki, the real Loki in Thor's body decides to go about and ruin Thor's good name by rampaging across New York.

Finally, as the battle between Thor and Balder rages outside of Blake's office, Thor is forced to use Loki's magical powers against Balder. In his weakened state Balder is knocked out, and Thor is mortified that he has possibly killed his best friend. When Sif arrives on the scene she sees "Loki's" grief, and when Balder revives, the two are convinced that the person before them could not possibly be Loki and the trio band together to find the real Loki and reverse the change that has been done to Thor.

Synopsis for "Cloak and Dagger"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Doctor Strange (Vol. 2) #5

While torturing Clea, Silver Dagger reveals his origin. He explains how he was once a Cardinal of the Catholic Church and was a potential successor to the Pope. However, the College of Cardinals had passed him by due to his youth and fanaticism, and another had been chosen to become the new pope. He then studied the black arts and was determined to become God's weapon and fight against the followers of Satan. While studying to be "the Silver Dagger," he traveled the world, learning everything he could from the adepts of the "dark religions" and then slaughtering them as part of the Lord's vengeance. He then sought out the Ancient One but he was too late: There was now a new Sorcerer Supreme -- Dr. Strange.

As the Silver Dagger continues trying to break Clea, Dr. Strange's soul returns to the Earthly plane through the Eye of Agamotto which is in Silver Dagger's lair. Still disorientated, he mistakenly enters a wax dummy of himself and, now trapped within it, his stumbling movements are perceived as an attack by Silver Dagger who assumes that Clea is responsible and swiftly cuts it to pieces. Once Silver Dagger has left to relieve himself, Clea touches the dummy, enabling Strange's spirit to enter into her body and the excess energy he brings with him restores her strength. As one being, the two of them break Clea's bonds and escape to the Sanctum where Strange's spirit returns to his mortal body which has been in an inert state, neither alive nor dead, since his soul had been pulled into the Orb of Agamotto.

Silver Dagger arrives shortly afterwards, using the power of the Eye of Agamotto against Strange and Clea, but Strange uses the Shield of the Seraphim to briefly block the Eye's power, long enough for he and Clea to take control of the Eye and turn it against their enemy. Forced to see the truth of his charlatan ways, Silver Dagger allows himself to be sucked through the portal which the enlarged Eye has become, ending up in Agamottto's realm of unreality engaged in an endless dialogue with the caterpillar.
