Synopsis for "All Things Past and Present!"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Battlestar Galactica #7

Inside the Memory Stimulator, Adama relives a practice session in which he dueled Baltar with Bio-swords at the Colonial Fleet Academy on Caprica some 25 Yahrens earlier. Adama got the upper hand despite the fact that Baltar had tammpered with the swords control. Apollo and Sire Uri witness Adama's flashback from outside the inducer, which Uri finds a flagrant waste of the Galactica's energy resources. As he steps outside, Uri gives some ominous orders to his personal guards. He then proceeds to the bridge of the Galactica to assume command from Colonel Tigh, who is put in charge of the repair crews instead.

Shortly after that, Uri orders Apollo and Starbuck to organize a search party for the three ships that have gone missing from the fleet and ensures them that he will personnaly attend to the safety of Commander Adama. In the pilot's ready room Athena argues that her father cannot be left alone for even a minute, but Apollo and Starbuck ensure her that Boomer is on guard. But then Boomer arrives, having been sent to them by Uri's guards. Realizing they have been tricked, the pilots engage in some subterfuse of their own: Boomer pretends to be Apollo and takes his place on Viper patrol with Athena and Starbuck, while Apollo hurries back to protect his father.

Unfortunately, Apollo is knocked out by Uri's guards and taken to the bridge, where Uri threatens to courtmartial him. Uri's lover, Medea, has taken over communications and reports that the fleet's Agro ship is missing. At first Uri assumes she is making this up so he can blame Apollo, but when she tells him the ship really has disappeared, Uri panics, as he had need of it. Apollo deduces that Uri was planning to leave the fleet behind and rendezvous with the ships that had gone 'missing' earlier, and his plans included taking the Agro ship with him. Uri runs off to stop his personal guards from harming Adama.

Meanwhile, the guards order Dr. Wilker and Nurse Cassiopeia to report to Uri on the bridge. When Wilker replies that he cannot leave Adama's side, he is knocked out. One of the guards grabs Cassiopeia and another tries to shut down the Memory Inducer, but is shot by Colonel Tigh, who had a feeling Uri would attempt something like this. With help from Cassiopeia, Tigh manages to defeat all of Uri's guards. But when reinforcements arrive, Tigh's laser is soon out of power. Apollo and Uri, who claims to be on Adama's side now, arrive, and when Apollo jumps at one of the guards, a stray burst of laser fire rips through the computer controls of the memory machine. The machine goes out of control and Adama is trapped within his own memories. Sire Uri immediately takes advantage of this situation by blaming Apollo for it.

Synopsis for "Shuttle Diplomacy!"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Battlestar Galactica #8

Adama is reliving a past event inside the Memory Machine, which has gone out of control thanks to a stray laser blast. As a Colonial Captain, Adama visited the planet Scorpia with Lieutenant Tigh. The humans of Scorpia let robots fulfill all menial tasks while they themselves grew fat and lazy. When they witnessed a Skywalk collapsing and the Servo-Drones unable to save several citizens, Adama risks his own life by jumping out of his hovercar after telling Tight to take over command from it's Pilot Drone. Adama manages to rescue the lives of a woman and child and when he himself falls from the bridge, is saved by Tigh in the commandeered vehicle.

At the Scorpian Embassy, the Ambassador has been waiting for their arrival most anxiously. The female ambassador's face is hidden by a purple cloak. The other ambassadors of the twelve colonies await her presence in order to sign a mutual defence pact against the Cylons. The ambassador refuses to travel by Viper, insisting on a Scorpian Diplomatic Shuttle instead with a completely robotic crew.

Unhappy about this state of affairs, Adama feels it unfair to ask the other eleven colonies to rely on a planet where humans let robots do they fighting for them, as it reminds him too much of their enemies, the Cylons. When the Cylons attack the slow moving shuttle, Adama and Tight take over the flight controls and head for a small planet called Vesper. They try to make cloud-cover so that the Cylon scanners won't be able to make a fix on them thanks to the planet's savage Astralon storms. Adama manages to shoot down one of the Cylon Raiders, which in turn crashes into another. Sadly, their shuttle is also hit and has to make a crash landing on Vesper.

Automated Warrior-Drones exit the damanged vehicle to protect the humans passengers, who refuse to fight and blame Adama for their predicament. However, the ambassador tells her people they need to fight besides their robots, or die with them as the Cylons are already upon them. The robots put up a valiant fight, but are no match for the Cylon warriors. Adama and Tigh are the only humans using their laser pistols, and aim to make each shot count. Then the ambassador asks is she can have one of the pistols, and by removing her cloak, reveals herself to be a golden robot. She joins the fight, advancing towards the Cylons with the remaining Warrior Drones, but is eventually cut down by Cylon laser fire.

Shocked, Adama and Tigh break cover and charge at the Cylons. Just when they think their end is near, they are joined by the humans of Scorpia, who have decided to join the fight after all. They manage to defeat the Cylons without a single human casualty, but the robot ambassador is beyond repair. Adama admits he was wrong to equate the Scorpian robots with the Cylons. The human Scorpians have decided that from now on, men and robots will work, fight and govern side by side for the greater glory of Scorpia.

Synopsis for ""We Are the Enigma Force!""

Reprint of the 1st story from
Micronauts #11

Baron Karza returns to Homeworld, with Arcturus Rann and Marionette his prisoners in "power-shackles," manacles of pure energy. Prince Argon, Slug, and the Shadow Priests have taken over the Body Banks, but Karza tells them that he left Homeworld as a ploy to bring out the rebels (which is probably a lie). Karza transforms into his centaur configuration. Argon attacks him, pointing out that when he surgically turned Argon into a centaur, he made Argon a match for him. Their battle seemingly drags out for hours, even days. Slug asks a Shadow Priest what will happen, and he tells her, "The order of this day has long been written!"

Karza finally finishes Argon with a blast from his chestplate, and Argon realizes that Karza has only been toying with him. A Shadow Priest notes that Argon has served his purpose. Karza says, "I have defeated your herald, captured your champion. What else is left?" The priest says, "Merely this, Karza, merely this!" He gestures and frees Rann and Marionette from their power-shackles.

The assembled Shadow Priests remove their robes and reveal themselves, one and all, to be Time Travelers. Each is a piece of Rann's self, split off by the Enigma Force as he explored the Microverse over the course of a thousand years. They combine and merge with Rann, who glows like they do.

The Enigma Force revealed

Karza fires an energy blast at Rann, who counters it easily. While they battle, Marionette is reunited with Argon, and the Dog Soldiers outside the Body Banks decide not to attack. The transformed Rann tells Karza, "You are a demon possessing the Microverse, Karza. You must be exorcised," and "Leech. Parasite. Homeworld has a champion now. You'll suck the life-blood of this planet no longer."

Karza gradually realizes that he cannot win. In desperation he calls up a "mindshock" from the Great Pit, a blast that will destroy Rann, himself, and most of the people of Homeworld. Before he can unleash it, though, a barrage falls from space - the Acroyears have arrived! The Worldmind disrupts the mindshock and sends Karza into the pit, "where he will be consumed, sole victim of his own murderous mindshock," says Rann. The Acroyears rout the Dog Soldiers, and the Time Travelers depart from Rann and fade away into the night sky. Marionette weeps for the dead and says, "there will be peace at last."
