History

Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 650 Textless

Original design in sonic baffling mode

The Original Suit[]

The original "Spidey Stealth Suit" was created by Spider-Man (Peter Parker) to combat the sonic screams of the Hobgoblin (Phil Urich). He used it for the first time to infiltrate the Fisk Towers in order to destroy the Reverbium that Hobgoblin had stolen from Horizon Labs at the Kingpin's behest.[5]

During the Spider-Island crisis, Peter's clone Kaine used the Stealth Suit to slay the Spider-Queen. Madame Web (Julia Carpenter) convinced him to keep the suit for himself and somehow locked it in a red-and-black design, which eventually caused Kaine to be given the Scarlet Spider codename in Houston.[6][7] The lock was seemingly temporary, as Kaine was able to return the suit to its original design for a confrontation against the Assassins Guild.[8]

After the death of the Spider-Man of Earth-94, Kaine gave in to the Other and inadvertently ripped the Stealth Suit to shreds.[9] Its remains were later found by the Black Widow of Earth-1610.[10]

Subsequent Suits[]

At some point after Kaine took his original Stealth Suit, Peter created a second one and stored it within his black box at Horizon Labs.[11] It was eventually moved to his personal lab at Parker Industries[12] and later used by Clayton Cole when Ghost attacked the building.[13] Peter relocated the suit to the Baxter Building after purchasing it to serve as the New York headquarters of Parker Industries.[14][15]

Infiltration Costume

When a reborn Kaine emerged from the Other's corpse, the Master Weaver used the substance of the Web of Life and Destiny to craft him a copy of the original Stealth Suit in its red-and-black design.[16]

An Infiltration Costume was later created by Peter and used by him to confront Patient Zero, the person who hired Deadpool to assassinate him.[17]

Properties

The Original Suit[]

The original Spidey Stealth Suit's omni-harmonic mesh with wave bending properties provided it with cloaking and sound-canceling abilities which could be used in a number of ways. It had three settings: green bent light and sound, rendering the suit invisible to all but those with special lenses; red baffled sonic frequencies, from infrasonic to ultrasonic; and white turned all these features off.[5][18] Additionally, the suit could mend itself with a thought of its wearer,[19] and was fireproof due to being made of Unstable Molecules.[20]

Subsequent Suits[]

Being exact copies of the original Stealth Suit, the second and third suits possess all of its properties.[21] The Infiltration Costume, however, is a new version whose special capabilities (if it possesses any) were never fully shown.[22]

Notes

  • It is suggested that the Spidey Stealth Suit needs to be charged in order to utilize both the stealth and anti-sound functions.[citation needed]
  • The second Spidey Stealth Suit was modified by Clayton Cole to emit sonic vibrations so he could use it against Ghost.[13] It's currently unknown if these modifications were kept after the occurrence.
