- Some eminent philosophers believe we don't choose our destinies. Instead they believe our destinies choose us. If abused, will we someday become abusers? And if reared in a racist household, are we predisposed to hate? Or do we have a choice? Hatred and abuse are very powerful forces. But then again, so is destiny. It's a question of free will versus fate and it's difficult to know which will determine the course of our lives. We can only look toward the future and hope for the best.
