-- Magnus

The events of Sir Magnus' early life have not been recorded.

As an adult, Magnus had become a Knight of the church, leading the charge into territories the church felt had strayed from the path of God. After slaughtering and burning down a village of heretics, Magnus and his men set out towards France. To the shock of his men, Magnus vanished from his horse before their eyes, transported to the limbo-like dimension that houses the "rivers of time".[1]

Magnus soon learned that he had been transported to New York City in the year 2003[2] by Dr. Strange in order to help Thor defeat ancient Viking warrior Harald Jaekelsson. Magnus further learned that he was was chosen for the task, along with Sigrid the Battlemaiden and Erik Lonnroth, because they were the distant descendants of a Norse wise man from the town of Lakstad, who had haphazardly cursed Jaekelsson and his Viking crew with a rune stone, which had left the Vikings unable to die. According to Strange's reasoning, since the blood of the wise man had powered the rune curse, the descendants of his bloodline should be able to counter the curse's power.[1][2]

While Magnus and Sigrid were on board with the plan, Erik found the entire story doubtful and questioned if he was dreaming or drunk. After discussing the plan, Sigrid and Magnus convinced Erik that the possibility of magic Vikings was not that far-fetched, reminding the pilot that he traveled the skies in an "eagle of iron". Seeing their points, and the horrors the Vikings were inflicting on the citizens of New York City, Erik agreed to fight. Contributing his blood to a magical brew whipped up by Dr. Strange, Magnus took the potion, and headed out into the city.[2]

While Erik attacked Jaekelsson and his flying longboat near the Woolworth building, Thor, Sigrid and Magnus took on Jaekelsson's Vikings on the ground.[2] After three warriors made easy work of Jaekelsson's Vikings, Magnus and Sigrid questioned Thor as to Jaekelsson's whereabouts. Before they could spot him, Jaekelsson appeared behind Thor and ran him through with his broadsword. Rushing to Thor's aid, Magnus was bested by Jaekelsson, taking a blow to the chest and watching his sword break in two. Magnus regained his composure just in time to see Thor launch Jaekelsson's body into orbit.[3]

After saying his goodbyes to the rest of his comrades, Magnus was sent back to his own time by Dr. Strange.[3]

The Rivers of Time show that Magnus eventually died in combat, having his head removed and stuck on a pike. He was also shown to have entered Valhalla, the Norse realm of heroes, upon his death, along with Sigrid and Erik.[3]
