History

Short Circuit was a grandchild of Lilith, and thus part-demon himself. On learning of his ancestry, he became determined to earn her favor, and murdered at least fourteen boys as offerings to her. He was eventually captured, imprisoned, and sentenced to death.

As he was placed in the electric chair, his demonic powers finally became active, absorbing the electricity and giving him the ability to create portals into other worlds.[3] Now immensely powerful, he took over the prison, killing most of the staff and guards and freeing his fellow prisoners. Using his powers, he transported many people into other worlds, driving many of them insane.[4]

When the Nightstalkers came to investigate reports of strange occurrences at the prison, he attacked them, throwing Hannibal King into an alternate dimension. When Frank Drake tried to use an electrical gun against him, he absorbed the energy, becoming even more powerful.[3]

Eventually, the remaining Nightstalkers were able to find and rescue Hannibal King, and realizing that Short Circuit needed to absorb electricity to power his abilities, they shut down the prison's power systems. Without an external source of electricity, Short Circuit's powers consumed his own energy, reducing him to a pile of ash.[4]
