Death (Sanjar Javeed)[src]

Sanjar Javeed is an ancient Persian mutant who was recruited by Apocalypse as Death of the Final Horsemen, an elite team that would only be used if all else had failed.[1] The Final Horsemen were awakened by Clan Akkaba in the present to serve a new child Apocalypse[5] and later Apocalypse's heir, an ascended Archangel.[6]

Death was killed in Archangel's service,[7] but he somehow came back and is now a head at the Pan-Asian School for the Unusually Gifted.[4]

History

Early Life[]

Sanjar Javeed is the illegitimate son of King Shapur II of Persia, born around 325 A.D. Though his father was revered as beloved, generous, and compassionate, Sanjar never received these emotions from his father as he was born to a servant mother. Attempting to gain the love of the people of Persia, Sanjar would steal treasures from his father and give them to the townsfolk. Unaware of his mutant ability to transmit terminal diseases, his gifts to the townsfolk only spread death, even killing his father.[8]

Sanjar was watched by the eternal mutant Apocalypse and selected as his Final Horseman Death in the event that all other plans of Apocalypse failed.[8]

Final Horseman[]

Returned in the Modern Age to fight X-Force. He fought Wolverine, and even Wolverine's claws couldn't kill him.[8] Death was later tricked by Fantomex into leaving X-Force alone.[9]

After Apocalypse was killed by X-Force, and Archangel became his successor, all Horseman went over to his side.[10] When Sanjar tried to infect Deathlok with diseases, Deathlok beheaded him since no diseases could affect Deathlok.[3]

Benevolent Sanjar[]

Somehow, Sanjar returned and founded the Pan-Asian School for the Unusually Gifted in Mumbai alongside Agent Jimmy Woo to train enhanced and gifted youth from across Asia.[4] Woo was originally the headmaster of PASUG, but more recently Sanjar has taken over that role.[11]

Taking on the moniker of Life, Sanjar joined Bishop's response team to offer aid to the people of Milford. Using his mutant gifts, Life boosted the immunity of the most vulnerable civilians.[2]

  • Immunity Manipulation: Sanjar can boost the immune responses in others. Specially, he can increase resistance to bacterial and viral pathogens.[2]

Weaknesses

Powers are proximity based and the farther away the target is, the less the effect.

Notes

  • Sanjar is beheaded in Uncanny X-Force #15. However, he later reappears with no explanation for how or why,[4] with a radically different personality. Perhaps the cruelest of the Final Horsemen is now a tenderhearted teacher.[14] He still has his disease powers but only uses them sparingly to nonlethally discipline misbehaving students,[11] or to boost immune systems.[2]
