History
Dr. Richard Horrigan was a doctor that worked at the City General Hospital in New York and was a colleague of Dr. Don Blake.[1] He was the physician that oversaw the care of the Wasp, a member of the Avengers, who ended in a coma following a devastating confrontation with the mutant Toad.[2]
While the Wasp was still unconscious, her teammates got the guy responsible for her injuries and brought him to her. Wasp's husband at the time, Yellowjacket, demanded that the culprit would find a way to cure her. Toad was unable to help her and was whisked away by hospital security. Horrigan was about to send the erratic Yellowjacket away, to regain the peace and quiet, but they were ambushed by the Whirlwind. When Moondragon made quick work of him forcing Whirlwind to retreat, Yellowjacket left the building upset. The rest followed shortly afterward, except for Thor and Beast, who stayed at the side of their friend.[2]
Yellowjacket, who had just defeated Whirlwind, collapsed upon the steps of the hospital. While out of it, he started growing uncontrollably in size. Beast brought Horrigan to Yellowjacket, but the doctor was unable to help him as he was still taken care of Yellowjacket's comatose wife. Beast, vowed for by Dr. Blake to get permission from Horrigan, concocted antidote using a stolen Brand Corporation serum in the hospital's laboratory. With the aid of his teammates, Beast managed to save him. Shortly afterward, they were informed by Horrigan that their friend had awakened from her coma.[1]
A while later, a nurse informed Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym, that their upcoming release was approved by Horrigan. He determined that they made a full recovery and were able to return home.[3]Notes
