History

Puente Antiguo is a small town in New Mexico. It was home to an assortment of people including a temporary resident trio of scientists who were in the area studying unusual atmospheric phenomena when they encountered a man stumbling out of a dust storm in the desert and brought him back to town. Not long after the stranger's arrival, a town local discovered a hammer at the center of an impact crater in the desert. This discovery lead to a number of them converging on the site and attempting to pull the object from the stone in which it was embedded. The hammer also drew S.H.I.E.L.D. to the area in a move to contain any threat it might pose.

The town played host to some increasingly strange events relating to the stranger, the hammer, and S.H.I.E.L.D., which culminated in an attack from a giant humanoid automaton. The machine trudged through the town laying waste to vehicles and property until it was brought down by the power of Thor.
