The Pterons are a pterodactyl-like humanoid that reside in the city of Pteros located in the Pangea region of the Savage Land. They are one of the various Beast-Men races, created by the ancient Atlanteans, that inhabit various parts of the Savage Land. They, like all the Beast-Men, were created using the Nuwali's left behind technology. The race is a long-time enemy of the Aerians, another winged Beast-Men race.[2]

Origin[]
The Pterons are one of the various Beast-Men races created by the ancient Atlanteans. They were created using the Nuwali's left behind technology.
Long time ago, they became the enemies of the Aerians.[2]
Modern Age[]
During a ecological shift in the Savage Land, the Pterons attacked the Aerians. Ka-Zar helped stop the attack with his sling, and they then learn that Queen Leanne, an ally of the Aerians, has been captured. It eventually came to light that one of the Aerians, Sep, was having an affair with Leanne, but he turned out to be a traitor, as he turn her over to the Pterons. Ka-Zar, Zabu, and Shanna attacked, with Shanna killing Khalf the leader of the Pterons. Shanna and Leanne after the battle end up hanging off a cliff, and Ka-Zar can only save one. Ka-Zar choose Shanna and they escaped from the cave.[3]
During the Secret Invasion, some of them joined Ka-Zar to fight the Skrulls.[4]
They were invited to join the United Council of Tribes. It was created by the Zebra People to bring peace to Pangea. A member of the tribe was present when Torran of the Ethereals crashed the meeting.[5]Powers and Abilities
