History

Pedro Alvarez was a notorious mobster who was active in the 1940s, earning himself the name "Killer Pedro". In 1944, Killer Pedro was caught in a gun battle with the police. Grazed by a bullet, Alvarez entered a coma and was believed to be dead. His brother Don, who owned a cemetery, had his brother placed in a mausoleum. When Pedro came out of his coma alive and well, he decided to take advantage of the fact that everyone believed he was dead and resumed his crime spree.

After robbing a bank, Killer Pedro was chased by police and happened past Madeline Joyce (secretly Miss America) and her uncle James Bennett. Madeline chased after Pedro as Miss America and was shocked that Killer Pedro was still alive after seeing him gun down the police officer pursuing him. She chased Pedro back to the cemetery where she spotted him escaping the mausoleum. Miss America then got the permission of Don to search the mausoleum. While she was searching it, she found only an empty coffin while Pedro sneaked into his brother's home and attempted to kill him.

When Miss Marvel came to Don's rescue, Pedro hid upstairs in a suit of armor and when Miss America came looking for him, Pedro managed to get the drop on her with a blow to the back of the skull. Taking the dazed hero to the roof of his brother's home, Pedro then attempted to toss Miss America from the roof to her death. However, Miss America came around and was able to fly to safety. Overpowering Pedro, she frightened a submission out of him and he surrendered.[1]

Pedro was turned over to the police, his subsequent fate is unknown.
