History

Patricia "Tisha"[1] Collins is Michael and Tracy Collins's second child,[4] born after her older brother Nick[5] in Paterson, New Jersey, where the family lived.[4]

Before Patricia was born,[6] her father Michael was turned into the hideous cyborg Deathlok against his will. As his new appearance scared Tracy, Michael decided to move away, though he watched his family from afar.[5] Michael's allies at law enforcement agency SHIELD told Tracy that Michael was collaborating in a top-secret mission, to justify his absence.[7][8] Two months after Michael's disappearance,[9] Tracy confirmed she was pregnant by him,[6] and by then she had also deduced that Michael had become Deathlok.[6][8] She sent him a letter, through SHIELD, asking him to come home,[6] and also invited her older sister Arlene to her home to share the news with her.[6] She did not tell Nick about it yet, though.[10] Michael returned home, still as a superpowered cyborg[6] harassed by similarly-superpowered enemies, which made the cohabitation more difficult.[10] Eventually realizing that he couldn't live with his family without endangering them,[8] Michael moved back to Coney Island.[8][11]

The supervillain Hobgoblin, hired by one of Michael's enemies, attacked the Collins's family house and burned it to the ground. Tracy was sent to the Paterson hospital and treated due to smoke inhalation, but she also gave birth to the baby, two months before her due date, under the protection of Michael's friends Misty Knight and the Thing. Due to the premature birth, Patricia was kept in an incubator for a few weeks, but no problems were expected or happened.[4] As the Collins's house had been destroyed, Tracy, Nick and Patricia moved with Arlene in the latter's home in Manhattan,[1] but later Patricia had to be taken to the hospital again as she had a fever and high levels of fluid in both lungs; after checking a doctor, Tracy had initially believed that she'd be fine in the morning, even if Michael's high-tech sensors detected the issue. In the hospital, Patricia recovered.[12]

Tracy commissioned a birthday gift for Michael: A painting by Michael's friend Jesus Badalemente depicting Michael in his previous human form with his wife and both kids -something that realistically would not have happened, as Michael had turned into Deathlok before Patricia had been born. Tracy gave Badalamente a number of photographs to use as a reference. Michael saw Badalamente working on the painting before it was finished. During that time, he met with his family midway between Arlene's and Badalemente's, at Michael's other friend Jim Dworman home in Riverdale.[13]

After losing the house, and with new expenses for the baby and other issues, the Collins family had money problems.[1] Ultimately, Tracy decided not to raise her children near Michael, since Michael was often surrounded by powerful enemies, and she left him for the western United States.[8][14] Michael discovered this only when he went to visit them at Arlene's house, finding only her sister-in-law, who explained the situation, praising Tracy's decision.[14] Tracy got a job at Mega Burger.[15] Michael decided to respect Tracy's decision and stay away from her family.[16][8] He led a more proactive superhero life ever since[8] but he eventually disappered when he was transported by an alien intelligence to another planet,[17] where he remained for years[18] until he could return home; due to the changes happening during this adventure, he was again in Michael Collins' body, apparently unable to become the cyborg Deathlok again. Collins then returned with his family. The family attended to the funeral of Gravity, a superhero who had died in the same mission that returned Michael home.[19]
