Old Lace (Earth-616) is a genetically engineered deinonychus (though she was originally believed to have been a velociraptor) which Gertrude Yorkes inherited her from her supervillain parents, who sought to have Old Lace (Earth-616) used as a weapon to fight superheroes.
Old Lace (Earth-616) got her name from Gert Yorkes, who had temporarily been using "Arsenic" as her codename (essentially making the pair Arsenic and Old Lace (Earth-616), after the play and film of the same name). Though Gertrude later dropped the codename after deciding that some things from her parents (such as her real name) were worth keeping, Old Lace (Earth-616)'s name stuck.
When Yorkes was fatally wounded by Geoffrey Wilder, she was able to pass her telepathic link with Old Lace (Earth-616) to her boyfriend Chase Stein before dying, since her death would have killed Lace as well via their telepathic link.
Chase, after his girlfriend's death, has been using Old Lace in a much more angry and aggressive manner, even going so far as to command Old Lace to rip an enemy's throat out. However, it has been shown that Old Lace can resist her owner's commands, such as when Chase ordered her to keep the other Runaways away from him during his deal with the Gibborim, Karolina managed to talk Old Lace out of it, saying that everyone can choose to disobey.
After following the Runaways on several more adventures, Old Lace was killed while watching TV with Klara Prast by a crashing unmanned aircraft.Powers and Abilities
Powers
Old Lace is a genetically engineered deinonychus created in the 87th century . She has brown scales with Tan spots and Purple Trianglular spots on back and a nose ring. She has been engineered to develop telepathic links; first with Gert and currently Chase. She can feel the emotions of her owner, such as sadness when Karolina left, and anger when Nico and Chase's kiss was revealed.
