I too hate the new setup. I think it looks tacky. Everything was very strait forward and clean before.

- I am sorry to hear that. The skins aren't final; we are working to ensure all the features are easily located.
- For now, you can change back using the 'Monobook' skin in your preferences, if you like.

Great New Skin
Hi,
I haven't visited this site very often but I think your new skin looks fantastic. The standard wiki 'look' isn't very attractive and I suspect it puts a lot of people off using them. Your new skin makes the site look like a modern website and is very easy on the eye and user friendly. - Yes, it was mostly CSS used to move things around and such.
- The fortunate part is that MediaWiki has a couple of great skins you can base your examples off!

Menu on the left?

- Personally, I prefer it on the left, too!
- We are now on "version 2" of the skin. We aren't done tweaking yet.
- I would imagine "version 3" or so should allow users to move the navigation to the left or right.

New Set Up

- The menu on the right is a temporary limitation. Soon it will be movable... no worries.

Is the skin available to download?
Just curious, but is the skin available for download anywhere? I'd like to experiment with it and see if it can be adapted for a MediaWiki-run wiki I'm working on. Of course, I'd be willing to share any mods I made to it. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. 06:04, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Maybe a little guide?
I like the new skins - depending on certain tastes, they are easy on the eyes (I find them all nice to drool over) and change is nice but navigation is difficult because of the new set up. Using Memalpha, Wow, Slate and Smoke, I found it strange that the search bar had to be scrolled down to find it - search bars should be the first thing that a user should see, or at least they should be easy to spot. QuartzSlate and QuartzSmoke are the best skins for me so far because of the nice colour scheme, but it took me a while to realise that click on my username would bring down a drop-down menu.
Bottom line is, maybe a small guide to how these new things work could help? Other than that, it's nice to see that you are willing to add new skins. Just don't add too much or else I'll be changing them every week! :P

- We are still fine tuning these skins, to hopefully make them make more sense.

I think the red's a bit shocking. After adjusting, I think the new layout is okay. It's nice because it sets it apart from other wikis, but it also makes the site look like someone's MySpace. Personally, I prefer the standard layout. - SamuelB 02:34, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

New Skin
In all honestly I must agree with the negative - the new skin is a little too flashy for my taste. that said I'm perfectly happy since I can still use the old skin in my preferences. :)
Specific items: 1) The new floating content and menu boxes seem to have a little trouble properly resizing - I'm noticing text falling behind floating boxes and links vanishing behind the ad and boxes to the right, as well as the top menu bar is a bit twitchy. 2) The larger content boxes, though the larger size is slightly easier to read, they crowd out the central text on the pages quite a bit, making the primary content harder to read. Multiple narrow columns are also a bit of a pain. 3) Navigation goes on the left. I don't know why. Hate the Re-Design
The site is turning into a sloppy mess. I can't find anything, bios are getting "Earth 616" tagged on everywhere. I think it looks horrible Thor2000 15:46, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

- The Earth-616 thing is something totally unrelated to the skin and we have very good reasons, which we debated over for months on end.

A technical thing
I am using Firefox, and the google ads are covering up the search box for some pages. It seems like some pages it does and some it doesn't, but it makes jumping around a bit difficult. Navigation
I like the comic style design of the new skin, but as some other people already mentioned, I would prefer to have the navigation on the left side. In addition, I hate scrolling for the "recent changes" button which is a very valuable instrument. With the new skin, I always have to scroll for this button which is somewhat annoying. You can Change it
If you don't like the new skin just go to your preferences and chanfge your skin. That's all you really have to do if you want to use the old skin. MutantKingMagneto
