History

When the Fantastic Four and the Avengers sacrificed their lives to destroy Onslaught, Franklin Richards, the son of the FF's Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman subconsciously created a pocket universe to save their lives. There they spent an entire year reliving living new lives "reborn" into a reality where they recently gained their abilities that vaguely mirror how they gained their powers originally.

In this new universe, Franklin created populated universe, including recreations of many of these heroes allies and foes. Among these creations was one based on time traveling tyrant Kang of Earth-6311.

On Counter-Earth, Kang claimed to be a time traveler from the 30th Century, however since the pocket dimension of Counter-Earth was artificially created by Franklin Richards, and the fact that the Gamma core on Avengers Island proved to be a rift in space-time that was spawning villains for the Avengers to fight, Kang's claims may be a fabrication. Whatever the truth may be, he and his lover Mantis would travel to the modern era on Counter-Earth in order to battle the greatest heroes of all time, the recently formed Avengers. Kang wished to utterly defeat as a token of love to Mantis.

Sure enough, Kang's assault on Avengers Island led to the capture of all the Avengers, and Kang taking Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield, Swordsman's swords, Hawkeye's bow and arrows and the android Vision as his trophies. However, Thor would free himself and his fellow Avengers and easily best Kang in a rematch, forcing the villain to flee the scene, however not before ejecting the severely damaged Vision from his ship.

Kang and Mantis would hide out in Peru where they would plot to get revenge against the Avengers. This plot would never come to fruition as Kang and Mantis would be absorbed into Loki in his bid to take over the Earth. Loki would ultimately be defeated and while many of the super-beings that he absorbed were seen active following the battle, Kang's ultimate fate remains unrevealed.
