None of this makes sense, but as someone who's been called "soulless" plenty of times, let me tell you, these guys have no soul. They're as alive as a painting of someone.
History
When Thanos used the Death Stone, many soulless clones of the Battlerealm's heroes were created.[1] A select few of the Nameless that Thanos deemed "pure" enough to call his children were corrupted into his servants, the Deathless.[2][3]
After the Summoner defeated the Deathless and killed Thanos, Guillotine hunted the Nameless across the Battlerealm in hope of eliminating them.[2]
The Collector's clone isolated itself alongside the other "odd" Champions of the Abyss.[1] The Grandmaster's clone was hidden away by the Collector in the Necropolis alongside his other failed experiments.[4]Notes
- Guillotine claimed that Thanos created the Nameless using the combined power of the Genesis and Evolution Stones.[2] This information was later contradicted by Gwenpool[1] and the bios for the Deathless Champions, both of which only mention Thanos using the Death Stone. This article assumes the latter sources are correct.
