Synopsis for "Birth of a Witch"Edit
A very young Wanda Maximoff and her brother are headed home, watched from a distance by a wolf and a sorceress. The two children run to their parents, where their mother tells Wanda that she has been summoned by the Witch Queen of the Gypsies, Lilia.
Wanda and her mother walk into the local gypsy gathering (past a group of tourists) and greet the Gypsy Queen. Though appearing to be an old woman, once inside the wagon the Queen removes the Serpent Crown from her head, revealing a much younger woman. She bids the wagon driver to take them to Castle Russoff.
Meanwhile, in Morocco, the wizard Damballah greets the fakir Taboo - keeper of the Darkhold. Taboo shows a visage of a meeting two days prior, where Lilia, Margali Szardos and Maria Russoff (the sorceress) discuss the coming portents around Wanda, predicting she will be a major force of Arcana. Damballah sees the Serpent Crown, and is immediately interested in taking it. Taboo opens a portal to Castle Russoff.
In the castle, the three witches tell Wanda she is destined for great things, and invite her to join their coven. They join Gregor Russoff (the wolf) in the courtyard just as Taboo and Damballah port in. A fight quickly ensues, but is abruptly brought short when Wanda, in fear of the fight, casts her first Hex. The Hex awakens the Elder God Chthon through the Serpent Crown, and Chthon immediately takes charge with a dictate: Wanda is not to be claimed. Hers is a special fate, bound to no coven or group. As Chthon and the Serpent Crown depart, Chthon also reveals that all present will have children of occult significance.
The coven confer, and decide that Wanda is best taught the arcane ways by Agatha Harkness. They return Wanda to her family, marvelling at the power she will one day wield.
