Mrs. Melrose was an old lady attending the Sunday services at a Catholic Church on Mercer Avenue. The congregation was held hostage by the maddened Hotshot, who sought the priest's help to perform last rites on his dead girlfriend, Jailbait. Mrs. Melrose took pity on the boy and witnessed when the Hulk arrived and defeated him. She later visited Hotspot at a special holding facility where he was taken, and told him she would pray for him.
Not long afterwards, Mrs. Melrose was interviewed by reporter Jackie McGee about the events that transpired on Mercer Avenue. She painted Hotspot as a tragic lover, and constantly compared him to the late actor James Dean, while she described the Hulk as a monster and the villain of the story.[1]
