History

Moondark is a sorcerer who has come into conflict with various heroes including Spider-Man, Jack Russell,[1] Ghost Rider,[2] and Night Rider.[3]

After being seemingly killed in a confrontation with Spider-Man, Moondark was returned to life by his otherworldly masters, who expected payment in the form of collected souls. To that end the sorcerer began imprisoning souls in his newly constructed Soul Orb. After finding work at a local carnival, he captured the souls of the carnies, enslaving them in the process. His unwilling servants included the multi-limbed Six, the grotesque Muck Monster, and the beautiful shapeshifter Gorilla Woman.

At some point, he even captured the soul of Johnny Blaze and forced him to serve as an attraction. However, this would be the sorcerer's downfall, as Peter Parker, who happened to one day attend the carnival, recognized Blaze and discovered the truth. After Spider-Man managed to free Ghost Rider, the two heroes managed to free the captured souls from the orb. This had grim consequences for Moondark, who was dragged back into the spirit world by his masters.[4]
