History

According to himself, Mister Wilson found himself spontaneously coming into being a couple of centuries ago in Otherworld. The manners of this realm didn't strike him right, so he started working on a way to correct them.[1] The Fire Demon Surtur saw an opportunity and made a deal with Mister Wilson, granting him the necessary power to push forward his vision, and the Manchester Gods came to be.[2]

When the Manchester Gods were powerful enough, Wilson, now known as Master Wilson, spoke for them to the leaders of Otherworld, and declared war against them,[3] under the belief their monarchy was unjust for the townsfolk, and it was time for Otherworld to actually represent the United Kingdom it purported to, to stop being rural and modernize.

Loki of Asgardia, an ally of the rulers of Otherworld, was invited by Master Wilson to get to known the Manchester Gods in an attempt of the trickster god to gain their trust and betray them. However, Loki changed sides as soon as he found himself agreeing with Master Wilson's views.[1] Loki proceeded to help weaken the old gods of Otherworld as the forces of the Gods of Manchester pushed forward into Camelot, and ultimately forced them to sign an armistice and surrender. Loki didn't know that Wilson and the Manchester Gods were allied with Surtur.[4]

When Surtur joined forces with the enemies of Asgardia and assaulted it, he used the technology of the Manchester Gods. Loki recognized it, and traveled to Otherworld with Thor to confront Master Wilson, who showed regret after learning he had unwittingly helped Surtur wage destruction.[2]

Loki learned that Surtur planned to use the different cities of the Manchester Gods to form a network across all of the Nine Realms, and reverse the process in which the Manchester Gods fed energy to Surtur's original city, releasing all stored energy back out, burning everything in the Nine Realms. The trickster god informed Master Wilson of Surtur's plan, and convinced him to sacrifice himself and the Manchester Gods to stop Surtur's plan and save the universe.[5]

Notes

  • While he's known as "Master," Wilson doesn't like said title, considering himself to be no man's master.[6]
