Reprint of the 1st story from
Incredible Hulk #185

On the day that the President is expected to arrive at Hulkbuster Base to congratulate Glenn Talbot from escaping from the Russians, Colonel Armbruster has captured Bruce Banner and has him tranquilized and shackled up deep under Hulkbuster Base. As Banner is being overseen by Armbruster, General Ross and Betty Talbot, Armbruster tells Banner that he's lucky he was only tranquilized and that Armbruster could have easily have killed him. With no response coming from Bruce, Armbruster and General Ross leave Betty behind to be alone with Bruce. When Betty tries to get Bruce to talk, he angrily lashes out at her angry that everyone is focused on the Hulk that they've forgotten about Bruce Banner. After angrily telling her he has no friends, Betty sadly leaves the scene before Bruce can take back what he said.

Later in the day, Air Force One lands at Hulkbuster Base and President Gerald Ford is welcomed to Hulkbuster Base and is shown around by General Ross, Betty and Glenn Talbot. As the tour goes on, Colonel Armbruster goes to check on Harold Conrad's report on Talbot's sell scan. Finding Harold's dead body, Armbruster finds that the results were also burned. Able to print off new copies of the read outs from the computer, Armbruster is horrified by what he finds and speeds off to find the President.

Elsewhere on the base, General Ross shows them that they have captured Bruce Banner. When he shows off Banner to the President, Bruce is bitter and insulting and mockingly asks them to toss him a banana. As Talbot gets closer to the President, Armbruster suddenly bursts in and knocks Talbot and himself over the railing. Just then Talbot's body explodes, killing himself and Armbruster in the blast. The sudden and violent death horrifies everyone, especially Betty and Bruce begins to transform into the Hulk warning General Ross to get the President and Betty out of the area.

The Hulk breaks free and grabs Betty and tries to escape Hulkbuster Base, as he is attempting to do so Ross is able to get into a new battle suit, the HS-1000 and confronts the Hulk. While the suit is heavily armed with many different weapons, including lasers and sonic blasters the Hulk still manages to incapacitate it. He is about to land a killing blow on General Ross when Betty's pleas to stop distract the Hulk long enough for Ross to blast Hulk point blank with a gamma blaster, knocking the Hulk out. As Ross marvels over the fact that he has finally bested the Hulk, Betty hysterically asks him if it's worth the cost.

Synopsis for "Something Inhuman This Way Comes..!"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Avengers #95

Triton the Inhuman emerges from the Hudson River and races through the city. On his way, he is accosted by a mob of angry citizens as well as hostile police officers who hunt him in the street. The sewers provide him his only means of escape. When he re-emerges from the sewers, Triton finds himself near the perimeter of Avenger's Mansion just as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents equipped with Mandroid Armor are fighting against the Avengers.

At first, it would appear as if the Avengers are going to be defeated by the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But after re-routing the energy from his own power pods into the Mandroid Armor, Iron Man is able to shut down their opponent’s battle suits. H. Warren Craddock, the senator responsible for ordering the Avengers’ arrest, is furious.

After the battle, Triton explains that he originally intended to seek out the Fantastic Four but stumbled on the Avengers by chance. In need of any aid he could get, Triton asks the Avengers to assist him in retrieving Black Bolt who has been exiled to San Francisco. He explains that Black Bolt's brother, the insane Maximus, has taken over the Hidden City of the Inhumans and Black Bolt is needed to overthrow him.

The Vision is against the idea of helping the Inhumans while their fellow Avengers are being held prisoner by the Skrulls in space. Iron Man however believes it is their duty to help the Inhumans in their hour of need. In the end, it is decided that the Avengers will split into two teams to accomplish their goals: one team comprised of Captain America, Goliath, and Rick Jones will travel to San Francisco with Triton to aid the Inhumans while the other team, consisting of Thor, Iron Man and the Vision, will journey into space to search for the missing Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Captain Marvel.

In San Francisco, Black Bolt and his friend Joey are pinned down in a dilapidated structure while a street gang (who want to exploit Black Bolt's abilities) pursue them. Just as the scuffle begins, Joey is taken hostage by the gang's leader -- but not for long as Captain America throws his shield. It bounces off the wall of the building, taking out the crook before they can shoot. After the skirmish, Black Bolt is in a hurry to return to Attilan to stop his mad brother Maximus. He and the Avengers board the Quinjet to fly there.

Black Bolt thinks back to a time when he discovered Maximus doing a shady deal with the inter-galactic Kree that would have the Inhumans be their regents when they took over the Earth. Black Bolt sprung into action and used his incredible sonic voice to cause the Kree ship to crash. Sadly the crash also caused the death of Blackagar and Maximus' parents, which thereby causing Maximus' mind to snap with madness.

Meanwhile back at Avenger's Mansion, the other team briefly resume the fight with the Mandroids before deciding that it’s for the best that they go to Attilan instead of heading towards the stars. Upon arriving outside the Great Refuge, they are prevented from entering the city by a large black dome. it isn't until the other team arrives that Black Bolt is able to shatter it with his voice.

Inside the city, the Avengers find an Inhuman war party awaiting them, their minds compromised by Maximus. After a quick battle and some words from Black Bolt, the Inhumans lay down their arms. In the royal chamber, the Avengers discover Maximus making yet another deal with the Kree. They battle Maximus and the Kree force. Maximus is dethroned and Black Bolt resumes his place as the rightful leader of the Inhumans. But during the battle, however, the Kree envoy manage to escape and takes Rick Jones with him. Maximus reverts to his insane self while the Avengers vow to travel into space to rescue their captured comrades and stop the Kree and the Skrulls.

The story is continued in the next issue.

Reprint of the 1st story from
Conan the Barbarian #50

The giant monster Pthassiass wastes no time in attacking Conan and his companions, quickly gobbling up the unfortunate serving girl Gwineer. Conan's blows barely do any damage to the creature, but he notices that it seems to avoid the living, magical garden itself. Conan manages to lure it into the plants, and the tendrils and vines attack and flay Pthassiass as Conan and Stefanya retreat with the amulet. When they reunite with Lupalina, the wolf-woman reveals that she does indeed know Stefanya, and reveals the girl's history. She is the daughter of Thormond, the former lord of Phalkar, residing in the capital city Alkarion, whose demise was plotted by the wizards Thalkalides and Elviriom. Lupalina, when she was called Samandra and was a sorceress and the lady-in-waiting to Chrysala, Stefanya's mother, helped the wizards overcome the magical protections of Thormond, erected by the mage Merdoramon before his retreat to the Haunted Lands. But she felt the wizards gone to far in killing the family and saved the baby instead of killing it as the wizards expected, fleeing herself in the wilderness, turning into a priestess. Thormond and Chrysala were killed in a rockslide "accident" and the wizards' puppet, Themas Herklar, was put on the throne. But Herklar fears his puppeteers will dispose of him, and it is to him that Conan is meant to deliver the amulet of protection, under the noses of the wizards. Lupalina uses her magic to spy on their enemy, expecting to see the wizards, but instead see a young man sitting on the throne, exuding evil, who can shoot beams of fire from his eyes. Lupalina realizes greater magics are at work and quickly breaks off the scrying. She reveals that the amulet can teleport Conan to the castle at Phalkar, and Conan goes in hopes of finding Themas Herklar. He finds him in the dungeon, a tortured, broken man, and discovers that the young man, Unos, was in fact a being of evil magic created by the wizards. Suddenly, the two are attacked by subhuman creatures who lurk in the dungeons, and Conan teleports back to his companions. They vow to bring the wizards down.
