Synopsis for "Godspawn"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Incredible Hulk #145

Centuries ago in ancient Egypt, aliens arrives from outer space to plant the "seed of the future" on the planet Earth, leaving it for centuries.

In modern times, the Hulk is bounding his way across the eastern continent trying to find his way home following his battle against Dr. Doom in Latveria. Landing in water, the Hulk is attacked by a Russian destroyer, however, the Hulk smashes it away and continues on his journey. He becomes lost and finds himself in the Sahara Desert where he witnesses a woman in Egyptian garb being chased after by a man in a chariot. The Hulk, thinking the woman is in trouble attacks and smashes the chariot.

As it turns out, the Hulk has landed on the set of a movie, and his intervention has ruined a shot. The producer is furious, however, the lead actress manages to talk the Hulk down and get him to remain calm. The director decides that he is going to attempt to cast the Hulk into the movie in the hopes of making his film a huge hit.

While back in the states, General Ross, learning of the Hulk's survival calls in Betty Ross and Glenn Talbot into his office. He unveils to them the governments new plan to capture and contain, or kill if necessary the Hulk, Project: Greenskin: A state of the art military base with the resources and material to try and cure Bruce Banner of being the Hulk once and for all. The news upsets Betty to the point where she runs out of the room in tears.

Meanwhile, back on the film set, the Hulk is dressed and prepared for his first shot when he suddenly reverts back into Bruce Banner. While the director is upset that his new idea is now ruined, Banner is less than concerned about it and walks off the set. That night Banner stumbles upon the aliens who visited Earth centuries ago. They stun Banner and take him aboard their ship where they probe his mind and learn his origins and how he became the Hulk. Furious that the creatures have probed his mind and brought up horrible memories, Banner demands some answers. The aliens explain that they come from the planet Horus and that centuries ago they decided to abolish all war. They decided that in the future all disputes would be resolved by creating gigantic warriors that would clash on alien worlds. They explain that Earth is just such a world and that they implanted their warriors centuries before hand and that now it is soon the time for them to rise up and clash.

The aliens then dismiss Banner to watch the proceeding battle. Bruce grabs an alien weapon and then uses it to knock out one of the aliens who is viewing the coming battle through a special helmet. Putting it own, he is horrified to watch as the two combatants come to life. The first, a stone creature called the Colossus rises out of the desert sand near the movie set, while the second is the Sphinx. Exerting his will power, Bruce manages to stop the Sphinx's transformation rendering it inert stone once more. However, the concentration causes considerable strain and he transforms into the Hulk.

The aliens, not wanting to have to deal with the green monster have him teleported to the ground to face the Colossus on his own. The Hulk and the Colossus fight, and although the Hulk is vastly smaller to the gigantic Colossus, the Hulk ends up smashing it to bits. Fed up of fighting the creatures different parts, the Hulk then cracks open the ground and swats the last animated piece of the Colossus into the chasm that he has created. Confused by everything that has happened to him that day, the Hulk simply wanders off into the sunset.

Synopsis for ""Mike Murdock Must Die!""

Reprint of the 1st story from
Daredevil #27

Daredevil is searching for the Stilt-Man who had been rescued by the Masked Marauder in the previous issue.[1] He hears a fight down below on street level and swings down only to find Spider-Man taking on three car thieves.[2] Daredevil decides to join the fight, but Spider-Man is not impressed. He asks Spider-Man if he has seen Stilt-Man but is told, by Spider-Man, to get lost.[3]
Meanwhile the action switches to the Masked Marauder's secret hilltop hideout where the Masked Marauder shows the Stilt-Man his force field that is around his helicopter to convince the Stilt-Man to team up with him.[4] Stilt-Man decides to join forces, because the Masked Marauder has a plan believing there to be a connection between Daredevil and the staff of the Nelson and Murdock Law firm. Shortly after sunset Stilt-Man rises to the window of Nelson and Murdock and throws in one of the Masked Marauder's sleeping gas pellets incapacitating the occupants (Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page) inside. Stilt-Man then waits for the Masked Marauder to come pick him and their hostages up. Once everyone is safely aboard the helicopter the Masked Marauder activates the force field again. The Super-villains then wait for Daredevil to turn up or until their captives reveal his identity. Matt Murdock decides to reveal that his twin brother Mike Murdock is in fact Daredevil.[5]
After this information, the Masked Marauder takes the Helicopter close to the ground so that the Stilt-Man can search for Mike Murdock. Stilt-Man's first port of call is a phone booth to search for the home address of Mike Murdock but finds there is none listed for that name.[6] He then decides to break into a jewelry store in order to bring Daredevil out but instead Spider-Man spots and attacks him. He tries to extend his legs high up to get away, but Spider-Man manages to get some punches in.[7]
Back on the helicopter the Masked Marauder decides that he no longer needs his hostages. He will push them out of the helicopter and starts with Matt Murdock, who head butts him back, which in turn knocks the force field around the Helicopter off. Matt Murdock escapes and quickly changes into his guise of Daredevil. In the meantime, thinking Matt is falling to his death, Karen attacks the Masked Marauder almost coming close to falling out of the helicopter herself.[8] Fortunately Daredevil swings in and lands some punches on the evil doer.[9]
In the ensuing fight, the Masked Marauder falls back on another control switch releasing the automatic pilot making the helicopter spin out of control. Foggy then calls out for Daredevil to grab the controls, but the Masked Marauder attacks him again. The Marauder reveals that he knows who Daredevil is, which in turn makes Daredevil reveal the Marauder as the law firm's landlord Frank Farnum. Once revealed Farnum gets Karen Page to remove his mask and reactivates the force field. Daredevil manages to clip him knocking him out of the helicopter and to his seemingly disintegration in the force field. This leaves Daredevil to say he'll never menace them again.

Down below Spider-Man is still fighting the Stilt-Man. Stilt-Man throws some stun gas at Spider-Man and attempts to get back to the helicopter. Soon at the helicopter he spots Daredevil and pulls a ray gun out. He fires the gun, but because he is standing in the water it causes his electrical systems, in his armor, to short out leaving him to shrink back to normal size and floating in the water. Daredevil leaves him for the police to haul him out because it has been a busy day for him.
