- This episode is a parody of British TV series Doctor Who.
- When Doctor Strange questions Blade for his nationality, the Daywalker mentions he "certainly [doesn't] know any US taxes." In real life, Wesley Snipes, the actor who portrayed Blade in his movie trilogy, has been imprisoned for tax evation.
- The end credits feature an image of Malekith and Purple Man celebrating as they have tied the Avengers to a Christmas tree. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, who have portrayed these two villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, respectively, have also interpreted different incarnations of The Doctor in Doctor Who.
