Synopsis for "Chapter II: An Unwelcome Visitor"Edit

Continued from last issue...

Madeline Joyce is getting dressed up to go to a dance in her hotel with Peter Carr. While they are dancing two men get into a fight and bump into them and are thrown out. Madeline suddenly remembers that she has to deliver the bracelet she brought with her from America and leaves much to Peter's protests, but she promises she'll be back.

In the lobby she sees a man running away and recognizes him as the man who tailed her in New York City. She witnesses as he and another man sneak up and break into her room. She follows in after them and has a gun trained on her. Madeline fights back, but is seemingly knocked out by a black jack. However, Madeline is feigning unconsciousness and when the men leave the room she changes into Miss America and follows after them. As the men continue to search her room, Miss America arrives and quickly subdues the man and demands answers from them. A third man then bursts in and attacks Miss America as well. While the two thieves flee, Miss America is knocked out from behind with a lamp.

Coming around, Miss America searches her room and finds nothing missing. Hearing Pete calling after her, she changes into a night gown and explains that her room was robbed. When he presses her for more answers, Madeline feigns a headache and asks him to leave. Pete complies, telling her that he has a couple of night spots he could go to. After Pete leaves, Madeline changes back into Miss America and leaves to pick up the trail of the men who broke into her room.

Meanwhile, Pete takes a horse carriage to Casa DeLutrio. There he arrives at a meeting between the Ilse's and the men who ransacked Madeline's room as they begin to plot on how to get the bracelet.
