History

Whiplash was one of the various supervillains locked up at The Raft, until Loki and the Celebrity Five released him from the DISK he was trapped in. Whiplash was unleashed onto the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to keep S.H.I.E.L.D. from coming to the Avengers aid. When Loki's plan to trap the Avengers in DISKs had succeeded, Whiplash was called back to his own DISK by Tim Gilliam.[1]

Whiplash is next seen when Tim Gilliam is ordered by Loki to retrieve one of the lost DISKs from an abandoned research facility. The plan was for Loki to lure Thor away from the other Avengers first, but Thor didn't fall for it so Tim D-smashes Whiplash to fight both Thor and Iron Man. After a brief struggle, Thor uses his lightning to defeat Whiplash, who is then D-Secured by Akira.[2]

His DISK was stolen from the Avengers base by Noriko, who had been tricked into doing so by Okuma Jubei. After Loki was initially defeated and the Celebrity Five arrested, Whiplash's DISK ended up in the hands of Red Skull. When Red Skull started his master plan to destroy the Earth, he gave Whiplash' DISK to M.O.D.O.K. in order to defend one of the 5 bases needed for his plan. M.O.D.O.K. released Whiplash along with Crimson Dynamo so they could stop Iron Man, Akira, and Falcon from reaching the base, but Falcon managed to defeat both villains.[3]

Eventully, Whiplash's DISK somehow ended up in the hands of Tim Gilliam. Tim D-Smashed the villain when the Celebrity Five attacked a security conference to lure the Avengers out. Here, Whiplash first fought against Thor and Wasp before the other Avengers joined the battle. In the fight, Whiplash acted rather arrogant towards Tim. Iron Man tried to take Whiplash out with his Build Up Armor, but that turned out to be just what the Celebrity Five wanted. Tim used a device to absorb the attack before it could hit Whiplash. With their mission succeeded, Tim recalled Whiplash to his DISK.[4]

Whiplash is last seen 3 months after Loki and Dormammu have been defeated, still working for the Celebrity Five.[5]
