The two Atlanteans known as the Mad Twins lived in poverty-stricken outer realm of Atlantis. The people hated their plight and began a rebellion against the ruling government. The Twins were appointed leaders of the group. The rebel leaders contacted Jacqueline Trufaut, a woman from the surface world who had discovered a mystical artifacts that would empower the user. Jacqueline Trufaut sought revenge on Namor the Sub-Mariner, and offered the artifact as a gift. The Mad Twins gained a magical chain that allowed them to grow to the size of giants and intern increase their strength. The Twins patterned themselves after the children of Neptune, called Otus and Ephialtes.

Ms. Trufaut, in her plot to destroy Namor, had the twins stage a kidnapping of her from the United Nations. Namor rushed to save Ms. Trufaut, and the Twins seized him from the air and fiercely fought him until they were defeated and escaped. Later, when Namor was addressing the United Nations, the Twins kidnapped Ms. Trufaut once again, knocking Namor aside when he tried to rescue her.

Twinsmad

The Twins gathered at Pontus with Dragonrider, who had also been empowered by mystical artifacts. Proteus held her captive in the form of Namor for final battle with the Sub-Mariner. Namor arrived, thinking Trufaut was kidnapped. Namor battled the group of villains and was knocked aside by each of them. Namor soon defeated the villains and believed he rescued Jacqueline Trufaut.

Powers

  • Atlantean Abilities: The twin possesses the conventional attributes of Homo mermanus: gills that extract oxygen from water, superhuman physiology to withstand extreme pressures and temperatures, and acute vision. They can swim at approximately 30 miles per hour. They can remain out of water for approximately nine minutes before beginning to suffocate. However, they can operate on the surface by wearing a water-filled helmet or using a chemical that enables him to draw oxygen from the air.




Equipment

Powered by a mystic chain, the Mad Twins gained the ability to increase their size and strength.
