The Knight-Suits were created by Merlin after during an auction run by A.I.M., the Circle bought part of the replicated Extremis technology.

After they noticed Iron Man was in the search of the Extremis which A.I.M. stole, he proposed Stark a wager, if Stark defeated the Circle's Extremis-enhanced pilots, he would be free to retrieve the Extremis as he please.

During the battle, Stark noticed a that the Circle's force field which protected their sample of Extremis was light-permeable, being able to destroy their Extremis using a potent U.V. laser, losing all the Extremis they had left, being unable to continue producing new technologies or Knight-Suits without extreme changes in their utility, as Meredith continued to design them.[1]

The Knight-Suits are built with technology that is visually similar to that of an Iron Man Armor, but operates through defensive measures instead of offensive ones. The user can generate a rectangular shield of energy on a forearm to use in combat, built to absorb Repulsor energies and use said energy in a reactive "lance" of energy fired forward from the opposing forearm from the one holding the shield. The suits can fly through the use of thrusters on the feet, with Merlin planning to incorporate heel thrusters as well for added combat utility.

As with the Iron Man Armor, the color of the eyepieces on the suits are the same as those for their thrusters, though their shields are always green.

The functions of the armor work well with typical battle suit techniques as used by Iron Man, or Lancelot's martial arts-based style.

Use of the armor requires utilization of the Extremis virus.
