History

The Jackal was a Nazi spy who was active during World War II. By the summer of 1944 he and his operatives worked from a secret hideout within a mine in Newark New Jersey. From there they plotted a series of train sabotages in order to frighten Americans from taking the train, ruin the American rail system and eliminate military officials taking a train from New York to Washington D.C.

Their attacks prompted the FBI to contact the Human Torch and Toro to investigate. As the Jackal and his minions carried out more acts of sabotage, the two heroes managed to capture one of the Jackal's men and learn the location of their secret hideout. There their flames were doused with water and they were knocked out. The Torch and Toro broke free and prevented the Jackal and his men from causing the train carrying the military brass from crashing.

The Jackal was turned over to the authorities and his subsequent fate is unknown.
