Synopsis for "Amber"Edit

At long last, the Avengers arrive to defeat Thanos once and for all. They break through a barrier created around Earth and crash land in the desert. Heading to an Inhuman village, they find Abigail Brand and the Guardians of the Galaxy fighting Thanos and several members of the Black Order. Captain America goes for Thanos, only to be defeated and ordered to be further decimated by some of Thanos' soldiers. Hulk even goes back into Bruce Banner.

Meanwhile, Black Bolt has been technologically mind-controlled by the Black Order to fight on their side, and he goes for Doctor Strange. Iron Man and Beast try to stop him, and are nearly defeated, but Mr. Fantastic ties him and Proxima Midnight up in time. The Avengers go for a huge bomb that threatens them all, and which is being held by Maximus, who refuses to hand it over. However, Lockjaw uses his powers, causing the bomb to explode.

Black Widow takes control of a ship and contacts the other teams, telling the Black Order to surrender. Iron Man heads over to where the other Avengers are. Thane tells them all that Thanos is still a threat. Hyperion is defeated by Proxima Midnight, and Captain America gets shot, but also deflects a shot into Corvus Glaive, killing him. Thanos regains his composure and defeats Thor and Captain Marvel. Before Thanos can kill all of the Avengers, Thane uses his powers to lock Thanos and Proxima Midnight inside an cube of an amber construct which left them in a state of "living death", and the Avengers win at last.

Several weeks later, the heroes begin rebuilding. The Inhumans find a new home, and the new Avengers recruits do as well, though they remain on the team. The Super-Skrull becomes the king of the Skrull Empire, and the Illuminati seal Thanos and Proxima Midnight away without telling the Avengers.

    Solicit Synopsis:
  • • All roads lead to this!

• The over-sized conclusion of the Marvel Summer event!

• The heroes of Earth versus the forces of Thanos!

  • The cover is a tribute to the historical photograph "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima".
  • The pose Thanos strikes in his amber imprisonment of "living death" is identical to the stone imprisonment of living death which Adam Warlock imposes on him in Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2.
