History

The X-Beast was one of a large number of alternate versions of Henry McCoy given physical form by Project Manmaker's attempts to explore human potential. Possessing both the most savage and most intelligent aspects of Henry McCoy, the X-Beast claimed to be 'the ultimate resolution of man and beast'. Charming but savage, the X-Beast frequently indulged in cannibalism.

X-Beast accompanied Manmaker's Agent Veneer and Die-Cut to the island of Cyclaedea, where the Manmaker's previous experiments lived. Hoping to take over the project for himself, the X-Beast conspired with the leader of Manmaker's Knull security squad and ambushed Die-Cut, taking him captive. He then persuaded Veneer to name him the new security chief of Project Manmaker.

As X-Beast took advantage of his new position to conduct experiments on Id-Sister and the other inhabitants of Cyclaedea, Die-Cut escaped from imprisonment and attacked him. As the two struggled, the real leader of Project Manmaker revealed himself: The Red Skull. Ironically, the Skull would be rejected by his creations, who saw him as an inferior example of humanity. In response, Skull destroyed the Manmaker equipment, and the X-Beast and the other experiments apparently ceased to exist.
