Hela is one of the many Champions at the Summoners' disposal in the Contest of Champions held in the Battlerealm.

Born in a primordial and sinister era of the universe, the Asgardian Goddess of Death and Queen of Niflheim Hela was imprisoned when she attempted to conquer Valhalla. After being freed from her prison eons later, Hela returned to Asgard and destroyed it for the Asgardians' involvement in her imprisonment, destroying the hammer Mjolnir and banishing Thor in the process.

Contest of Champions

Gods of the Arena

Being attracted by the ceaseless battles across the Contest of Champions, Hela set her gaze upon the Battlerealm, seeking to capitalize on the strife and violence generated by it to bring Ragnarok to the entire Multiverse.[Additional reference 1] However, her plans were thwarted by the combined efforts of her brothers Thor and Loki, the Hulk, and the Summoner, resulting in her capture and subsequent addition to the Contest.

Infinity Chaos

After the Infinity Stones were strewn across the Battlerealm once again due to the actions of the Black Panther, Hela secured the Death Stone and gave it to Thanos, who in turn used it to trap most of the heroes of Battlerealm in a lifeless copy of reality to gather the other five stones unopposed. With the Infinity Gauntlet assembled, Hela and Thanos set out to reshape the Multiverse in their image.
