History

Much of Harcourt Teesdale's past is unknown, but at some point he became the prison governor of Alcatraz Island in California. While at Alcatraz, Teesdale became known to the inmates as "Arcade" because of the mutant-themed amusements he would set up for guards and visitors.[1]

Arcade seemed to take pleasure in personally overseeing the execution of numerous mutants. To make executions more efficient, Arcade began to use an inmate, Scott Summers dubbed the Basilisk by Arcade, to quickly kill the accused. Arcade created a special ruby quartz mask and harness to control the Basilisk's optic blasts. Arcade also had Basilisk's eyelids removed to prevent him from controlling his powers. When the Basilisk finally escaped, he tracked Arcade down and killed him.[2]
