Gustav Hauptmann was a scientist who originally worked for Adolf Hitler, and later the Red Skull. He was captured by Doctor Doom so he could him for building weapons for him. He loved working for him as he captured anyone whom he felt oppressed Doom. He met his end when he attacked Reed Richards with a flamethrower but Doom noticed that the flames where getting too close to his collection of priceless paintings. In order to save the paintings Doom reversed the sonic weapon he had planned to use on the Fantastic Four on Hauptmann, killing him.
