History

Early Life[]

Graydon Creed Jr. was the son of Sabretooth and Mystique. Despite being born the son of two mutants, Graydon was just a human.[1] Little is known of Graydon's early life. He grew up unaware of the identity of his mother, but at some point learned that his father was Sabretooth. It is unclear whether Sabretooth raised Graydon, but he grew to despise and fear his father. He would grow to develop an intense hatred for all mutants. [1]

Friends of Humanity[]

Many years later, Graydon founded the Friends of Humanity, an anti-mutant hate group that sought to "protect" humanity from the threat of mutants.[2] After the Beast's pardon by President Kelly,[3] Graydon's resentment grew even more and the Friends of Humanity began targeting mutants.[2]

Graydon and his group found themselves in open conflict with the X-Men, a group of mutant heroes fighting for mutant rights and mutant-human co-existence. Graydon and his group kidnapped the young X-Man Jubilee after she was tricked into visiting their headquarters, but she was soon rescued by Wolverine.[4]

Graydon Creed began looking for new ways to exterminate mutantkind. He hired a scientist to create a virus that would wipe out every mutant on Earth though would be relatively harmless to ordinary humans. Graydon dispatched one of his followers to infect baseline humans who had been in contact with a number of known mutants and began making public announcements about the "dangerous plague carrying mutants".

While giving a speech about the plague's effects, Graydon attempted to infect Beast with the virus, though was stopped by Bishop. During the struggle, Graydon accidentally infected himself and retreated back to the lab for medical aid. The X-Men followed him, attacked the base, and Graydon's scientist revealed himself to be Apocalypse, an ancient being seeking the destruction of both mutantkind and humanity. In the ensuing battle, the laboratory was destroyed and the threat of the virus ended, while Graydon was saved by none other than Beast.[5]

Undeterred by his failures, and by the fact that a mutant had saved his life, Graydon and his group launched a protest against a hospital were Beast was working. When he learned that Beast began dating his former patient Carly, a human, Graydon was furious. He had Carly kidnapped and began interrogating her. On behalf of Beast, Wolverine infiltrated the Friends of Humanity. Wolverine was a former associate turned nemesis of Graydon's father, and recognized Graydon's lineage.

When an enraged Beast broke into the Friends of Humanity headquarters, Wolverine revealed himself and rescued Carly. While making their escape, the X-Men activated a holographic projector displaying the X-Men's profile on Sabretooth. Now outed as the son of a mutant, Graydon was abandoned by his men and suffered a nervous breakdown.[6]

Bloodlines[]

Following his nervous breakdown, Graydon was hospitalized and plagued with nightmares of his father. In his absence the Friends of Humanity did not disband but grew even larger and more organized. Fully recovered, though still with a strong hatred towards mutants, Graydon returned to the Friends of Humanity to resume his old role as their leader. The council ruled that to lead the Friends of Humanity once more he had to prove himself. They told Graydon that Sabretooth was not the only mutant in his family, and handed him a file with information on his mother Mystique, his foster sister Rogue, and his demonic-looking half-brother Nightcrawler. Close to madness by this revelation, Graydon agreed to kill all of the mutants in his family tree; in return, the Friends of Humanity would let him return to the fold.

Graydon kidnapped his mother Mystique and forced her to send a letter to Nightcrawler saying she was in danger, in order to lure him into a trap. Fearing for his mother's life, Nightcrawler sought the help of Rogue and Wolverine. They located the Friends of Humanity's base and walked straight into a trap. Despite Nightcrawler's attempt to reason with his newly found brother, Graydon attempted to gas all of the mutants to death. His plot failed, and the mutants defeated him. He later woke up aboard a helicopter, bound. Three of the council members informed him that he had failed for the last time, and noted a peculiar "omission" in his attempt to purge his family tree. They stated they would give him a chance to clean his mess up, starting with this omission, and dropped him down to a rural cabin, where his father, Sabretooth, was waiting for him.[1]
