Synopsis for "Recurring Themes"
The Dreadnoks attempt to enter a Cobra meeting at the Broca Beach lodge hall, but several Iron Grenadiers block their path. When one of the Grenadiers kicks Zarana, Road Pig gets angry, and Darklon shoots him with tranquilizer darts to sedate him. Inside the meeting, Destro reveals a plan to reorganize Cobra, with each member being assigned partners to work alongside. Nobody is happy with their assignments, but Destro insists that they will have to keep an eye on each other. Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Zartan buys a building, but when a news report reveals his identity, he quickly changes his appearance.
In Broca Beach, Zarana is forced to work alongside the Baroness, and she takes her to a bowling alley where they have imprisoned Clutch and Rock 'n Roll. Both Joes attempt to escape, but they are soon subdued and taken to the Brainwave Scanner to implant information in their minds. In Fort Detrick, Maryland, Zanzibar refuses to reveal any information about the whereabouts of the Joes, and his lawyer presses charges against the Joes.
In San Francisco, Zartan enters the Presidio disguised as General Hollingsworth, but when he doesn't follow due procedure to ask for Jinx, the Joes become suspicious. They try to ambush him, but they mistakenly intercept Breaker while Zartan escapes. However, the Blind Master finds Zartan outside and decides to settle their score in an alley away from prying eyes. Back in Broca Beach, Destro reveals to Dr Mindbender that the B.A.T.s have components provided by a little-known subsidiary of M.A.R.S., which has allowed Destro to get data-feed from the B.A.T.s.
That night, Jinx receives a call from Breaker about Zartan seeking her earlier. Storm Shadow knows that Zartan is tracking him down, but he decides not to take the offensive and break the cycle of revenge. Snake-Eyes saves Jinx and Scarlett from a sudden ninja arrow, and Timber returns wounded with a scrap of red cloth in his teeth. Storm Shadow identifies it as part of a Red Ninja's robe and decides to seek out the ninja alone.
