Synopsis for "Snake Eyes: The Origin"

The issue interconnects several stories about different characters in different locations. In Florida, Destro stops Zartan from killing Junkyard, a dog that he thinks might be useful. Meanwhile, Mutt, Torpedo, and Tripwire watch Junkyard point at them from outside the hut. In Spanish Harlem, an old man disarms a robber who pulls a gun on him in a tea shop, and Snake-Eyes meets him later to retrieve personal belongings. At the Pit, Stalker tells Scarlett and Hawk the story of how he, Tommy, and Snake-Eyes survived a brutal encounter in Vietnam. They were the only three to escape a valley where they fought the Viet Cong. Finally, in the Everglades, the Joes try to capture Firefly and Wild Weasel, but the Cobra agents escape.

The story in Spanish Harlem explains how Snake-Eyes went to Japan to take up an offer from Tommy's family firm, which was run by ninja masters. Snake-Eyes excelled in his training, but he disagreed with the idea of killing to refine his skills. When the Hard Master is killed, Tommy is blamed, but the Soft Master believes he was innocent. Later, they learn that Tommy became a Cobra agent under the name "Storm Shadow." Meanwhile, at the Pit, Scarlett and Hawk learn how Tommy and Snake-Eyes met and how they became close friends during the war.
