Notes
Continuity Notes
- Pages 1-6 (until Panel 2) recap the events of Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos #29, with Nick Fury fighting Baron von Strucker in the town of Cherbeaux, France; however, the date reported by Fury, 1944, is incorrect, since it has been stated in Marvel Universe #1, set in 1945, that Strucker had gone on Hitler's bad side two years before, immediately joining Red Skull's Hydra in Japan in 1943.
- Jake Fury, Nick's brother, is incorrectly shown as a soldier in the United States Army; it was previously stated that Jake joined the Army in Sgt Fury and his Howling Commandos #68, which is set after this issue.
- Pag. 12 recap the events of Captain Savage #4, where Strucker took control of Hydra after killing the original Supreme Hydra.
- The soldier Jake Fury and the Hydra agent Jake Fury were considered to be the same person; in Secret Warriors #26 this was retconned: while the real Jake went undercover for years after serving in the Army, the LMD created with the Brood technology in France eventually became an Hydra agent and later the terrorist known as Scorpio.
- The LMD of Jake Fury is seen creating the Zodiac Key at Stark Industries while working as an undercover agent for Hydra. It was previously stated that the Key itself manifested to "Jake" from the Ankh Dimension. It could be presumed that he have already found the Key and he was actually working on it at Stark Industries.
- Roxxon was originally named Republic Oil and Gas Company, changing name to Roxxon only years later. This can be considered just a continuity error.
- Pages 41 (Panel 4-5) and 41 recap the events of Fantastic Four #21; the Fantastic Four, Nick Fury and the C.I.A. defeated the Hate-Monger, a clone of Adolf Hitler.
- The apparence of Laura Brown as Nick Fury's girlfriend is a continuity error, since Laura first appeared in Strange Tales #135, set chronologically later, as an Hydra agent.
- Pages 55-59 recap the events of Strange Tales #135, where Nick Fury joined S.H.I.E.L.D. as the new director.
- Pag. 60 recap some of the early S.H.I.E.L.D. activities as shown in Strange Tales.
- Pag. 61 recap the events of Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D.
