Synopsis

Overview[]

The French Revolution was a period of far-reaching social and political upheaval in France at the end of the 18th century. The Revolution overthrew the monarchy of King Louis XVI, established a republic, experienced violent periods of political turmoil, and finally culminated in a dictatorship under Napoleon Bonaparte.

Causes[]

During the 17th century, the French nobility began to be seen increasingly as extravagant and uncaring by the rest of the people, causing unrest to slowly grew.[1]

In 1730s Paris, France, a cat massacre was performed by starving apprentices who had come to see cats, the pets of their masters, as symbols of their own misfortune. Many hundred cats were slaughtered, presumably at the suggestion of a "poor, starving witch". That slaughter was known as a Taigheirm in ancient Scotland, "the killing of cats in order to control Hell", the sacrifice of countless cats was a way of summoning a Sonneillon, the magical embodiment of envy, hate, and the need to punish. Once summoned, the Sonneillon roamed Paris for decades. The cat massacre in itself was considered by historians and theorists as the first ember of the Revolution that was to come.[2]

When Louis XVI took the throne he made the Palace of Versailles his home. However he had litte interest in politics and buried himself in his obsessions with locks and watchmaking while the nation's crises festered.[3]

The immortal External; Burke was then guillotined during this time.[4]

In spring of 1789, the times were turbulent in France. Tourneau, an aristocrat and the chief-executioner to King Louis XVI, wished to find a more efficient means of executing prisoners. A physician named Joseph-Ignace Guillotin provided him designs for a mechanized decapitation device. The device (dubbed the guillotine) was tested and validated on July 13.[5]

Revolution[]

After decades of roaming Paris, the Sonneillon incited the masses to Revolution,[2] combined to the ever-growing unrest caused by the gap between nobility and wider populace.[1]

on July 14, 1789, the people went into revolt. The Bastille was conquered, and many noblemen were captured and executed using the guillotine, starting with Tourneau.[5]

The Olympian Hercules had an affair with Marie Antoinette during the revolution.[6]

On June 18, 1792, at the Conciergerie the Demon Nightmare gave Marie Antoinette gave her a nightmare while imprisoned awaiting trial. She relieved the siege on Versaille over and over. Nightmare would regualary visit the nightmare for entertainment.[7]

As thousands were led to the guillotine, Clan Akkaba "was there to sharpen the blade", officiating as executioners.[8]

In 1799, General Napoléon Bonaparte became the new French leader,[1] thus ending the French Revolution.

Aftermaths[]

After conquering much of Europe, Bonaparte was defeated in 1815, and France (briefly) returned as a monarchy.[1]
